338 TRINITY THEATRE NEWSLETTER March 2015 1

President s Notes I hope this newsletter finds you all well and healthy. After all I would hate to think any of you were under the weather. Especially as we have an exciting year ahead building up. The two one act plays are set to go on before the next newsletter, so best wishes to all involved in them. There is talk of possibly 5 more shows taking place this year, and all completely different, so many thanks for those coming forward with ideas and enthusiasm. it also means that those who offer invaluable help behind the scenes are going to be called upon be it front of house, bar, ice creams, not to mention the enquiries we are receiving to hire the theatre for concerts, dances, and other theatre groups. So from me, I just wanted to let you know your time and commitment is appreciated. A special thanks at this time to Paul Redding for offering to co-ordinate the new and rapidly growing publicity team, and all those working with him, as it looks like they could be busy. Now, here I go again with another public apology (I'm getting quite well practised at this!) The social secretaries organised a Beetle drive, and as many of you know I was not overly enamoured with the idea (it brought back childhood memories of old ladies in a WI hall smelling of mothballs), BUT and yes here comes the BUT, on the night it was really well attended, and I have to say I ended up enjoying it, even becoming inwardly competitive at the prospect of completing my rather weird looking insect. So thank you Helen and Angela, and sorry for doubting you. Next is St Patrick s day which I always enjoy, as there's food, so really worth coming along to. Then later in the year, Honest Mike will be back with a race night with a twist so watch this space. Better finish now, or the Editor wont have enough room to fit it all in. Take care, and hopefully see you all soon around the theatre. Mike 2

Everything but the Kitchen Sink... In February the kitchen cupboards were spring cleaned and as a result there is quite a pile of china on the side, I guess it s plates that people have kindly brought food on for after show parties, so we didn t want to just throw them away without giving people the chance to retrieve aunty Ethel s best china. But if its still there at the end of March it will be thrown out. So please come down and collect it. Treasurer s Report It continues to be a quiet time on the finance front with outgoings of a few hundred pounds on publicity, water rates and bar stock coupled with minimal income. There will be substantial expenses over the coming weeks with our first electricity bill for four months plus our annual insurance bill of about 2500, but look on the bright side, it used to be around 6000. Make sure you come along to the forthcoming events and the one act plays. John 9

Raise Money for the Theatre.. The Swimarathon is held at the Heights Leisure Centre. Teams consist of up to 6 people and they swim in relay for 55 minutes trying to do as many laps as possible. There are age categories and medals and trophies awarded for the team that completes the most laps in their age group. The age groups are :- under 10 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years, 16 or over, any age (mixture of ages). A certificate is given to everyone that takes part. The times for the swim are between 12:00 midday and 6:00pm on the hour. The team gets sponsorship for the event and 50% of what they raise goes to the Lions charity (this year its the Hampshire and IOW Air Ambulance) and 50% goes to a charity or organisation of the teams choice (i.e. it could be put towards the theatre).
