Accreditation Maastricht School of Management s MBA programs are accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs [ACBSP], and the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). The Cologne Business School ensures highest quality education: in addition to official state recognition of higher education in Germany, all Bachelor, Master and MBA courses are regularly examined by the tri-national accreditation agency FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation; the accreditation agency for business programs in German speaking countries) acting on behalf of the Wissenschaftsrat (German Council of Science and Humanities) for study programs. In this way the CBS guarantees quality at university level. 3

Executive Master of Business Administration To thrive in today s entrepreneurial, knowledge-intensive economy, individuals and businesses need relevant, robust and global educational programs and wide-ranging and durable business networks. The development of management and leadership skills is an essential but never-ending quest. Your career and your company can only prosper by staying up-to-date with the latest thinking and practices in modern business. Your skills and assets can only reach their ultimate potential through networking, interacting, partnering and competing on the global stage. If you also believe as we do that investment in your own capabilities, contacts and global experience are vital for your success, you should check out the Executive MBA of the Maastricht School of Management [MsM]/Cologne Business School [CBS]. Our challenging program, based in the heart of Europe, is state-of-the-art. It prepares you to lead and manage in today s dynamic global economy where social and environmental sustainability, making the most of diversity and coping with change are imperatives. With an emphasis on flexibility, our program is designed specifically for midcareer managers, spirited freelancers and entrepreneurs who cannot attend lectures on a full-time basis. Why should you choose the MsM /CBS Executive MBA? International accreditation The Executive MBA [EMBA] is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs [ACBSP], and the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). Modular design The design of this part-time program enables you to balance the pressures of work with study. Classes are conducted in seven 10-day modules with breaks and can be completed in 24 months. Global focus Taught in the heart of Europe by international Faculty, one module of the program is incorporated into a business-experience opportunity in Shanghai, China s greatest global business hub. Diversity and networking MsM and CBS are among the most international business schools in Europe. The EMBA attracts participants from many countries, professional backgrounds and areas of interest. Specialization in sustainability The program offers a specialization on the challenges of sustainability, including business ethics, sustainable supply chains and sustainable financial management. 4

Attracted by the combination of the experience of the oldest management school of the Netherlands and the dynamism of a reputable private business school from Germany, I soon discovered that MsM/CBS Executive MBA program has much more to offer. Three study locations, international student environment, state of art education and methodology encouraging intellectual discussion proved particularly empowering as a studying formula. Distinctive features such as a unique perspective on sustainability, bringing together people with very diverse working experience and a study schedule which does not require you to put your career on hold are yet other important advantages of the program. Most of all though, the people, the fellow students and the professors, the friends you gain along the way form the true narrative and make it a life experience. Beata B. Wlodarczak, LL.M. I joined the EMBA at MSM & CBS because I wanted to broaden my profile, I had an IT background and the EMBA helped me to be well prepared for the next career step. The modular program was the best fit for balancing a demanding job and a high profile study. The atmosphere was absolutely terrific; I was impressed by the variety of competences and by the positive attitude of all the participants. Every day was a new challenge and we learned a lot from each other. Alessandro Mantione 5

Modular Design The EMBA Program, to be completed in 24 months, includes conveniently-paced lectures and classes conducted in seven 10-day modules, minimizing the time that participants need to spend away from work. One module, offered at a partner university in Shanghai, involves a two-week session with lectures and work visits to local businesses. Other modules are taught alternately in Maastricht and Cologne. In the eighth and final module, participants will write their Master s theses. The EMBA program consists of four elements, starting with the Foundation segment which provides a solid knowledge base in each of the major management disciplines. The following Core segment offers courses with a broader focus, which are more integrated and are often multidisciplinary in nature. The Specialization segment contains a number of expert specialization courses. The program is completed with a supervised Master s Thesis as the Performance segment, based on a current business research project of your choice. Teaching Methodology Our aim is to stimulate critical thinking and transform business and management problems into profitable opportunities. With a multidisciplinary and multicultural perspective, we teach concepts and theories through problem-based learning exercises, case study analyses, discussions and independent study not just lectures and seminars. These problem-based learning exercises and case studies stimulate decision-making, acting as a vehicle for identifying and analyzing problems, for deriving solutions and finding ways to implement them. Group study emphasizes working efficiently and effectively in multicultural groups an invaluable skill for all leaders and managers. Group study enables participants to benefit from the experiences of others group members are selected at random to maximize learning opportunities in an environment designed to foster collaboration with fellow participants from different cultures and work environments. As a program taught in three different countries, the EMBA provides excellent opportunities to enhance intercultural communication skills. 6

Outstanding reputation in management education State-of-the-art curriculum Culturally diverse student body Study alternately in two countries, Germany and the Netherlands International study trip to Shanghai Possibility of acquiring international contacts in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion. Dedicated international faculty and staff 7
