IN THE NEW VENTURE CREATION TRACK YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO CREATE, DEVELOP AND EXPLOIT BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES BY STAR- TING UP AND MANAGING NEW VENTURES. The New Venture Creation track offers you an opportunity to be fully involved as an entrepreneur in the start-up process, from idea selection and team composition to venture formation, which enables you to gain real experience in starting up a new business. To support your entrepreneurial actions the programme provides a number of guest lecturers who are experts in different areas related to new venture creation. In addition, you will be part of our mentorship programme where you as a student are matched with an experienced mentor who supports you to advance in your entrepreneurial career. The courses are based on state-of-the-art research in each particular field. Our pedagogical view is that entrepreneurship is best learnt through experience-based actions, which means that you need practice to learn. However, you also need to reflect on your practice, and learn from available theories in the field. This is why you will find our programme in entrepreneurship to embrace action without compromising the valuable learning that comes from theory. NETWORK OPPORTUNITIES The students in the programme come from different educational and cultural backgrounds. This increases the opportunity to form competent teams, create innovative ideas, and to reach an international market. 5 ENTREPRENEURSHIP NEW VENTURE CREATION 2015/16 Career prospects This track is designed to provide the tools necessary for starting new independent businesses or to work in advisory roles to new venture start ups. It also gives graduates practical experience in research commercialisation, as well as tools to proactively work in projects in highly uncertain or risky market environments. The master s program in entrepreneurship has an excellent employment reputation. It is reflected in the fact that over 94 percent of students graduating from the new venture track find employment after graduating. They are either self-employed or employed, working in positions as managers or in functions related to marketing and sales, business development and project management in entrepreneurial and growing businesses. This MSc in New Venture Creation was the only one I wanted to attend after searching for a Master s programme for over a year. 6 Admission requirements REQUIRED BACHELOR DEGREE An undergraduate degree (BA/BSc). ENGLISH PROFICIENCY Strong English language communication skills are crucial to gain the full benefit of the programmes we offer. However, meeting the minimum English language test requirements, does not guarantee admission. A majority of students accepted to this programme submit test scores corresponding to IELTS band 7.0. SELECTION CRITERIA Based on previous university/college studies, CV and Statement of Purpose. You are also welcome to include additional supporting documents you would like us to take into consideration when evaluating your qualifications, e.g. Letters of Recommendation. WHAT ARE OUR MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS? We require what is called English 6 (advanced level) language proficiency, which can be demonstrated in various ways. We prefer candidates to take the IELTS test where possible. We accept the following tests and minimum scores: IELTS score of 6.5 (with no section less than 5.5) TOEFL paper-based score of 4.5 (scale 1-6) in written test and a total score of 575 TOEFL internet based score of 20 (scale 0-30) in written test and a total score of 90

7 Fees and funding There are no application or tuition fees for citizens of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. For non-eu/eea citizens the tuition fee is SEK 120,000 per year (approximately 13,170 per year). Students who are citizens of countries outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are generally required to pay application and tuition fees. There are some exceptions to this general rule. For the full list of exemptions, please refer to official information from University Admissions in Sweden. 9 Lund Learning Model THE SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT ADOPTS A STUDENT-CENTRED APPROACH TO TEACHING AND LEAR- NING. The aim is to increase students capacity for advanced problem solving, resulting in better decision-making abilities. Critical thinking and freedom of mind are stimulated in all activities - in seminars and workshops students analyse and present solutions to given problems and assignments. Theoretical concepts are tested in practical situations, and practical experiences are employed to develop and enrich theory. Students experience an open, informal study environment, with teachers and students on a first-name basis. Teaching is often done in small groups, which encourages dialogue and collaboration and teachers are accessible outside lecture hours. The educational methods used case methodology, team-building exercises, simulations, reality-based learning, learning portfolios, conceptual models, degree projects and the preparation of reports combine to enable our students to develop a range of proficiencies which serve them well in their future careers.
