China s rising profile across Africa has long-term implications for the African continent, its economies, and its peoples. China s prominence in African affairs also has implications for Canada s own African policies. The objective of this conference is to increase understanding of China s presence and the role and impact of China s interests, policy, aid, loans, trade, investment, entrepreneurs, and labour on African economic development as well as on governance, human rights, and regional security issues.
