China & Canada in Africa: Interests, Strategies and African Perspectives brings together Canadian policy-makers, stakeholders, and scholars with colleagues from China, Africa, the USA, and Europe to share knowledge in order to create better understanding about China s impact in Africa. China s rising profile across Africa has long-term implications for the African continent, its economies, and its peoples. China s prominence in African affairs also has implications for Canada s own African policies. The objective of this conference is to increase understanding of China s presence and the role and impact of China s interests, policy, aid, loans, trade, investment, entrepreneurs, and labour on African economic development as well as on governance, human rights, and regional security issues. Invited speakers and specialists from Canada, Africa, China, the USA, and Europe will provide leading-edge perspectives and insider knowledge about Sino-African relations and the opportunities and constraints this presents for Canada. 01 02
