Applied Communication Arts Nova Scotia Community College (Waterfront & Marconi Campuses) Are you interested in a career in the visual arts, but not sure which discipline is right for you? This oneyear program provides you with a taste of all the different possibilities including graphic design, new media, photography and an introduction to video and moving image. It is a pathway to further study at NSCC in some of those disciplines. This foundation year allows you to explore and experiment so you can make an informed choice before committing to any one direction. Digital Animation Nova Scotia Community College (Truro Campus) Digital Animation is all about the art of visual storytelling. During this program, you ll cover the in-depth fundamentals of classical, computer and experimental animation. You ll also study life drawing, layout and design, computer illustration, storytelling and storyboarding. This training gives you the foundation you need to succeed in the always-changing technical field of animation. s Graphic & Print Production Through this program you will be exposed to the most current software applications used in advertising, design and publication and develop a comprehensive knowledge of the interaction of printing presses as they relate to prepress, paper, ink and print technologies. In addition, the skills gained will enable you to troubleshoot problems to ensure the finished product meets industry standard. This is a growing, evolving industry that will challenge you creatively and technically. It's also a fast-moving industry that demands lightning-quick problem solving skills and innovative thinking. s Graphic Design Nova Scotia Community College (Waterfront & Marconi Campuses) Graphic Design is the profession used to solve communication problems visually. Logos, posters, package designs, websites, billboards, brochures, letterheads, advertisements, interpretive exhibitions and publications are examples of the types of communication needs Graphic Designers fulfill. In this program you learn how to develop a visual idea and lay it out using the latest computer software. You also learn how to prepare 'production art' - meaning you develop the skills needed to prepare the idea for accurate output, so you are able to handle a project from beginning to end, from concept to production.

Interactive & Motion Graphics Nova Scotia Community College (Truro Campus) Interactive & Motion Graphics is a creative discipline combining graphic design, video, photography, animation, type and sound to create the dynamic visuals that surround us every day. This program requires extensive use of the computer as an artistic and creative tool. As well as learning technical and design fundamentals, you re immersed in the tools and processes of the industry, developing and producing a variety of projects. s Music Arts In this intensive two-year program you ll study both music performance and music business and build on your musical craft while developing essential business skills (such as accounting, grant and proposalwriting, contracts and marketing). You ll also develop an understanding of the role of managers, agents and other industry professionals. This program covers ear training, music theory, ensemble practice and rehearsal, music skills development and performance, as well as music technology, business management and applied computer applications. s Music Business If you re a practicing musician, or somebody who thrives behind the scenes, this program will provide an understanding of the inner workings of the music industry. Managers, agents, and publishers are vital for any musician or artist competing in the entertainment business, and the skills required to be successful, such as accounting, grant and proposal writing, contracts and marketing are all covered in this program. Photography In this two-year program you ll create, setup, compose, light and produce photographs to a professional standard. You ll learn to shoot in a studio and on location, and manipulate and output images using professional imaging software.

Radio & Television Arts This program will prepare you for a career both behind the equipment and in the public eye (or ear).in the first year you get a taste of all the functions going on in a Radio or TV station. You learn the theory behind how a station works, plus get a lot of hands-on time operating the cameras, microphones, lighting, editing and other technical equipment. You hone your writing skills, scripting ads and promo copy, producing those scripts, and researching and writing interview outlines for both media. In the second year you can concentrate your studies in one of three areas: Television Production, Radio Performance/Studio Production or Broadcast Journalism. Recording Arts This program prepares you for a career as a technically skilled and creative professional, who either as part of a team, or independently, ensures that the music event and sound content are of the highest standard and quality. Screen Arts In this two-year intensive program you cover the entire film production cycle from initial concept through to distribution within a challenging, hands-on learning environment. You learn script development, set design and construction, film and video production, editing, set etiquette and more. Your challenge is to design, produce, manage and complete productions in a creative and collaborative crew environment. Fundamental Arts Holland College (Charlottetown Campus) This program will help students build the knowledge and skills necessary for post-secondary studies in the media cluster of programs. Digital Animation College of the North Atlantic (Bay St. George Campus) The explosion of technological developments, together with possibilities within the global marketplace, they have created a demand for individuals trained in the development of marketable 3-D animation products. The 3-D animation field encompasses the design, development, and production of educational and recreational products. It includes the video processing of still and animated images, the mixing, and incorporation of sound and/or narration, the scripting of text, and the generation of any desired interactive components within the application. Film & Video Production College of the North Atlantic (Bay St. George Campus) Areas of instruction include the history and evolution of the film industry, photography, screening and peer critique, cinematography, and rigging and grip. The primary focus of the program is to prepare students to perform the technical tasks associated with film-making. Graphic Design College of the North Atlantic (Prince Philip Dr Campus) This is a two-year diploma program designed to provide training in modern methods of graphic production. The program offers a balanced selection of traditional and electronically enhanced skills. The goal of the program is to help the student develop competencies in the areas of electronic pre-press, production technologies, and post-press operations. Recording Arts College of the North Atlantic (Bay St. George Campus) The Recording Arts program is a two-year diploma program which provides training in the skill areas of sound recording and editing, sound reinforcement and digital processing of audio signals.

Video Game Design College of the North Atlantic (Bay St. George Campus) The primary focus of this program is Game Design. Today's Game Designer needs to have skills or knowledge in many different areas. The Video Game Design program provides students a marketable set of skills by studying game theory, level design, cinematics, art, animation, elementary game programming and production methods. It emphasizes creative writing and non-linear storytelling skills. Visual Arts College of the North Atlantic (Bay St. George Campus) The Visual Arts program provides basic and intermediate studio experiences for the student. Students will develop skills in drawing, design, photography, art history, and a selection of visual art and craft areas. The program is designed to provide a foundation for people who have a general interest in art as well as for those who are interested in career-oriented training. Particular emphasis is placed on developing students personal and creative potential while learning new technical skills. Animation & Graphics New Brunswick Community College (Miramachi Campus) If you are artistic, if you have an eye for detail and you can meet tight deadlines, then an animation career awaits you. A career in animation requires strong artistic skills and a solid knowledge of the latest in computer animation technologies. It also requires the ability to turn creative thoughts into compelling images, using them to communicate ideas and messages. Animation is more than two-dimensional displays and simple actions. Today, it is a fantastic mix of media, technology and design, in a dynamic and growing industry. Animators create cartoons, and also are involved in creating animated graphics for a variety of projects in the areas of entertainment, simulation and educational products. Digital Photography New Brunswick Community College (Woodstock Campus) NBCC's Digital Photography program teaches you the skills necessary to take beautiful photographs and to push them in directions you never thought possible. You will learn to use the latest computer software to achieve the look your photos deserve, from simple photo retouching to elaborate pieces of digital art.

Electronic Game - 3D Graphics New Brunswick Community College (Miramachi Campus) The Electronic Game 3D Graphics program is the melding of art, animation, graphics, audio, production, storytelling and portfolio development where you learn how to create inspiring computer graphics using sophisticated software tools for computer games, simulation, animation, and the gaming industry. Electronic Game Design New Brunswick Community College (Miramachi Campus) Art, animation, graphics, audio, production, storytelling, and portfolio development are crucial elements of the exciting Electronic Game Design program. Students work alongside fellow artists in a team environment with professional graphics and animation tools. Fine Craft & Applied Design New Brunswick Community College (NB College of Craft & Design) In this program, you will explore studio majors in ceramics, communication design, fashion design, fibre arts, jewellery/metals, photography and surface design. This program will challenge you to develop high levels of technical skill, further your knowledge of craft and design history, explore basic concepts of entrepreneurship and expand your appreciation of contemporary issues. Foundation Visual Arts New Brunswick Community College (NB College of Craft & Design) The Foundation Visual Arts Certificate (FVA) program provides you with a fundamental overview of visual arts practice, theory and history.
