How to Apply GRADUATE DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES Application for admission Complete an application for admission. We highly recommended that you apply online at www.northeastern.edu/cps. Applications are also available at each College of Professional Studies campus location. Statement of Purpose Statement of Purpose: Write a 500- to 1,000-word Statement of Purpose that identifies your educational goals and expectations from the program. Current Résumé Required of all applicants. Academic Transcripts Admission to any graduate programs requires satisfactory completion of a baccalaureate degree at an accredited U.S. university or its equivalent. Submit official bachelor s degree bearing transcript and any post-bac calaureate transcripts to the Office of Admissions Graduate Programs. Two Letters of Recommendation (for degree applicants only; not required for certificates unless specified in additional requirements) Mail two letters of recommendation on your behalf from individuals who have either academic or professional knowledge of your capabilities to the Office of Admissions Graduate Programs. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: In addition to the above requirements: Educational documents, such as academic transcripts, from outside the U.S. will need to be submitted in English or in official English translation. If a document evaluation had been completed by an approved credentials evaluator, please submit an official evaluation as part of the application. Completed Declaration and Certification of Finances Original supporting financial documents Please note: To allow time for the visa application process, it is highly recommended that the application for admission to the school be submitted and complete at least 6 weeks prior to the anticipated start term. Any applications received less than 6 weeks prior to the start term may affect a timely issuance of the proper visa for enrollment with valid immigrations status. This may then delay the enrollment term. To learn more about the visa application process and the required documents to apply for a visa, please go to: http://northeastern.edu/issi/admissions/cps.html THE FOLLOWING ARE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIFIC PROGRAMS MS in Nutrition, also needed: Evidence of prior college-level coursework in the areas of anatomy and physiology, human biology, and chemistry MS in Respiratory Care Leadership, also needed: Proof of credentialing from the National Board for Respiratory Care (for all U.S. applicants) Master of Education Interpreter Pedagogy, also needed: Three letters of recommendation from the following (this should be specified within the recommendation): * Deaf colleague recommending your work in the community * Interpreter (Deaf or hearing) recommending your work as an interpreter * Professional colleague recommending your work in the field Evidence of interpreting qualifications. Please Note: Applicants must have five years' experience as interpreters. You must respond to question 1 and choose either question 2 or 3 below: 1) Reflecting on your work as an interpreter, discuss the three most important questions you have about your own work and the three most important questions you have about the field of interpreting in general (this is a required question). Choose either 2 or 3, and explain the reason for your choice: 2) In your opinion what is the greatest obstacle or challenge facing new graduates of Interpreter Education Programs? What specific suggestions would you make to new graduates to overcome the obstacle/challenge? 3) Prepare a brief presentation designed to recruit high school students into the field of interpreting. Methods of submission (choose 1): * Submit your original responses in written English, and add an ASL translation of those responses. * Submit your original responses in ASL, and add a written English translation. * NOTE: Your signed versions need to be submitted in digital format as a CD, (Real Player or Quicktime only) or as a DVD. These can be no longer than 5 minutes each. Your written versions should be added to your CD as Word.docs. * Applicants accepted into this program must have access to mini-dv camcorder and the ability to generate video in Quick Time format. MMCP (Interpreter Education Master Mentor Certificate), also needed: Language and interpreting portfolio (for further directions, please visit http://www.cps.neu.edu/admissions/the-admissions-process/graduate#mentor) One to two page proposal for a mentoring project that the applicant would like to implement during the fourth and final course of the program Three letters of recommendation, including one letter from a former or current mentor, as well as one letter from an interpreting educator Doctor of Physical Therapy, also needed: TOEFL scores of 580 or better (for International Students whose primary language is not English) Optional: If you wish your credentials to be evaluated for advanced standing within the transitional DPT program, then you can complete a petition, portfolio OR the Physical Therapy Examination Tool (PTET).
