FASN Annual Conference 2010: School Nurses: Going the Extra Mile The 15 th Annual Florida School Nurses Conference will be held at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary in the center of Florida s High Tech Corridor. This year s conference will enable school nurses to obtain knowledge and skills in current issues that are impacting school nursing practice. 1. Our conference presenters are recognized specialists in their respective fields. Share time with your school nurse colleagues and join together as we continue to move forward in school nursing practice in Florida. Approximately 8 Contact hours will be earned by nurses completing attendance requirements. Continuing Education hours are provided through the Florida Foundation of School Health which is designated a provider by the Florida Board of Nursing, Number 50-718. Program Objectives Participants will: 1. Demonstrate ways to collect data for the state of Florida, with rationale and school year uses. 2. Identify school nursing interventions designed to reduce young caregiver strain in the school setting. 3. Explore the challenges of 504/Rtl issues and how they impact student learning in the school setting. 4. Understand new research in Autism Spectrum Disorders and the effects on student health and learning. 5. Discuss the impact of H1N1 in a New York School setting, and its national implications. 6. Identify management strategies in the school setting for students diagnosed with Bell s palsy. 7. Identify and exhibit leadership growth in the educational setting 8.
