We have now reduced our CO 2 emissions by more than one-third since 2007. Soren Skou, Maersk Line CEO Big IMPACT The environmental impact of doing business is a huge focus for us and our customers. Our role in the supply chain directly influences customer carbon footprints, and so in 2007 we introduced an emissions reduction initiative to bring down CO 2 emissions by 25% before 2020. In 2012 our 25% target had already been achieved, with a revised goal of a 40% reduction by 2020 being introduced, and we re making good progress. In the UK and Ireland we continue to work hard to reduce emissions for local cargo. Audits of our haulage partners, the introduction of a CO 2 customer calculator, and better forecasting of equipment positioning has helped reduce emissions to just 1kg of CO 2 per container mile in the UK & Ireland, but there s still more to go. 25% CO 2 target reached in 2012 40% Revised 2020 CO 2 target 1KG 1kg of CO 2 per inland container mile achieved 15 16
