The mission of the Domestic Violence Council is to reduce the impact of violence on families by coordinating a dedicated, community-based response through advocacy, education and information. This resource guide was created to assist in carrying out the Council s mission. It provides valuable information about Palm Beach County s government and community-based response to domestic violence. Monday, Wednesday & Friday evenings, 4 10:00pm, teens are available on the Teen Hotline to talk to callers. *ELDER SERVICES - 211 Elder HelpLine enables Palm Beach County residents over 60 years of age to have at their disposal a ready and comprehensive source for community information on services which relate to their special needs; i.e. in-home assistance, recreational opportunities, support groups, etc. Also provides Elder Crisis Outreach (short term crisis intervention through home visits), and Sunshine Telephone Reassurance (calls over 600 residents who are either homebound or over 60 years of age to make sure that they are well, and to reassure them that they are not alone. Through video-tape presentations followed by discussion, parents will be offered the opportunity to talk about their concerns for their children. Assists families to have healthy babies. *FAMILIES BUILDING SOLUTIONS Family empowerment via home, school visits and ongoing support groups for families. *BEACON SCHOOL Services include family-centered case management focusing on maintaining a safe and healthy environment in which children can succeed and strengthening parent-child relationships. 8

*FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAM Case management services are family-centered to assist families in becoming self-sufficient (off welfare programs and off housing assistance). Families must sign a contract of agreement between FSS and DBHA and may remain on the program up to five years. *KIN SUPPORT PROJECT Services include family-centered case management to targeted at-risk children and their families in order to promote stability, empowerment, resiliency and optimism as a pathway to family self-sufficiency.
