Power and facility device dry contact source circuits are routed to a cross-connect termination block system in the facility and then connected via 50 conductor cable harnesses to the the SiteRanger SR1 rack mount monitor. SNMP alarm traps are created upon input port alarm function and sent via Ethernet TCP/IP to local or remote IP addresses for SNMP network management software tracking and reporting functions. SiteRanger SR1 can send SNMP traps to two IP addresses simultaneously. Advantages include simply wire pair contact closure wiring from site devices to cross-connect and SiteRanger unit. Many legacy devices have relay contacts and switches available that provide basic functional monitoring of device status. Contact closures can be configured normally open or normally closed and the SiteRanger SR1 unit can alarm on either. Implementation of the SR1 system is simple and reliable. Disadvantages include the fact that the SR1 system does not provide analog parameter monitoring. It is intended to provide notification of failure or distinct conditions as communicated by on/off contact status. Qualitative information such as analog power parameters, temperature, humidity, fuel level, etc cannot be provided that are valuable for capacity management, early detection of failure and analysis of site reliability. The SiteRanger SR2 system is designed for Ala carte implementation of remote acquisition modules interconnected on a network to provide analog data for more detailed and sophisticated site visibility.
