These are old but poorly understood applied surface chemistry problems. An adhesion approach is taken to investigate the position of splitting of an ink-fountain solution composite layer using a near-static and a dynamic method. Results from this study show that ink transfer and refusal in lithographic offset printing cannot be predicted by thermodynamic quantities such as surface energy or interfacial energy or work of adhesion. Ink transfer and refusal must be predicted by comparing the ink or fountain solution adhesion strength to other surfaces and the film splitting forces of the ink and fountain solution. This paper also reports the development of a new method which can measure the fountain solution layer splitting force under simulated printing conditions. Author Tian, J.; Liu, F.; Shen, W. Availability Document Number Publication Year FOGRA Journal Code AV NO YR UP FJC Search Tips Search in specific fields The "General Search" includes the following fields: Title, Descriptors, Free Terms, Abstract, Author, Institution, Conference Title, Title of Source, Serial Codes (ISSN and ISBN) and Publication Year. In all other cases the respective field has to be selected. In the "Expert Search" every field can be selected from the dropdown-list, or you can directly enter the field tag (in capital letters) with the search term, e.g. the classification CC:F01. The direct search with field tag is possible in all search types (Quick Search, Advanced Search and Expert Search). Field Author (AU) Search names within quotation marks as "last name - first name", e.g. "fritz erich" and always use the Author Field (in "Advanced Search" or "Expert Search"). Names may be truncated (with *). "fritz e*" returns all authors named Fritz, whose first name starts with an "E", whether they are abbreviated or complete. Truncation is recommended, since first names are often abbreviated in the literature quoted. You may also truncate the last name only, e.g. fritz* returns fritz-e, fritz-e-j, fritz-erich, fritze, fritzler, fritzsche etc. Classification Field (CC) In "Advanced Search" and "Expert Search" the subjects of the FOGRA-Classification may be selected from a list. This list contains all available classes. There are no subclasses. Several selected classes are combined with the operator OR. In the search field "General Search" the field tag CC has to be used to get a correct result, e.g. CC:F01. Instead of using the field tag, you can select the field from the dropdown-list in the "Expert Search". Field Source (SO) The titles of publications may be searched as phrases (strings) within quotation marks, e.g. "allgemeine papier rundschau". Field Institution (CO) This field supplies an institution, which may be the corporate editor, the publisher or the author affiliation. About half of the documents have an entry. 4
Field Serial Codes (SC) ISSN and ISBN are searched with hyphens without text, e.g. 978-3-7776-1636-0. The FOGRA-Journal-Code is searchable with FJC (in captial letters), followed by colon and the code, e.g. FJC:aprs. (Codes see FOGRA Journal List [in German] ). Field Conference Details (CF) This field contains informations on conferences (name, location, date) and has to be used together with the source. Field Publication Form (PF) The information "Online-Ressource" in this field signifies, that an electronic copy of the fulltext is available from the producer FOGRA (see above). Please give the order number (Bestellnr.) from the field "Availability". Field Country (CN) This field refers to the countries mentioned in the document and should be used primarily for information not for searching, because it is not often available. Field Availability (AV) For documents containing an order-number (Bestellnr.) in this field, the fulltext is available from the producer (see above). Field Document Number (NO) The document number is a permanent identifier for a specific record. Search e.g. NO:65103. February 2015 Copyright WTI-Frankfurt eg 2011-2015 5
