How Much will the Course Cost? / Faint fydd cost y cwrs? There are no course fees for Essential Skills classes. For all other courses a deposit is required (see below). Full cost courses (no subsidy from Welsh Government) Starting from: 4.00 per hour tuition fee - no concessions. Day Schools: 4.00 per hour (charge for resources from 5.00 per head as appropriate) Welsh & GCSE Courses 2.00 per hour tuition fee. 50% tuition fees waived if any of the following criteria apply: Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) (Incapacity Benefit and Income Support should be included under Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)) Job Seekers Allowance Guaranteed Pension Allowance Working Tax Credit Universal Credit Family Tax Credit and Disability Living Allowance / Personal Independence Payments are no longer eligible for fee waivers. Under 19 s - No tuition fee for learners under the age of 19 on 1st August 2015 (some conditions apply) please ask at reception. All learners pay a membership fee of 1.50 per centre per term. Welsh Day Schools - 15 for the day, no crèche or lunch provided. Pre - Enrolment & Deposit Payments A pre - enrolment place will only be confirmed when a deposit has been received. This is non refundable unless a class is closed by management. Courses costing 150 or less 50% deposit with the remaining balance to be paid at enrolment. Courses costing more than 150 100 deposit with three further payments, final payment no later than the 30th November 2015. Outstanding balances will be invoiced first week of December 2015. Ways to Pay (No weekly payments) Credit or debit card, cash, cheque or ACL gift voucher. Direct debit courses with a balance of more than 150-5 instalments with final payment by 15th February 2016. Resources and Materials Learners may be required to provide some resources / materials for their courses, such as text books, ingredients and art materials. Please enquire when you enrol. Examination Courses External examination fees (including Agored Cymru) are charged in addition to the tuition fee prior to learner registration with the examination board. Individual registration will not take place unless examination fees are paid in full and by the due date. There are no concessions or refunds. Centre staff will advise you on the examination fee which applies to your course. Cancellations and Refunds Torfaen Adult & Community Learning reserve the right to cancel, curtail and amalgamate courses. In such cases a full or proportionate refund may be given. Classes which do not reach a minimum number will not start. Once enrolled upon a course, learners are liable for all costs. There are no refunds given unless management cancel a course. Age Policy Learners must be 16 years old on or before 1st August 2015 and have left compulsory education. Mobility or Visual Difficulties Centres are fully accessible to all, however, to ensure that your visit runs smoothly, please contact us beforehand describing your needs. Torfaen Training Torfaen Training offers work-based learning opportunities to adults and young people. Whether employed and looking for career progression, or as a trainee looking to develop skills and build confidence in a variety of occupational settings. Learners can achieve nationally recognised qualifications whilst in their normal work environment with no need for time-consuming off the job training. Based on Springvale Industrial Estate, Cwmbran, we have fully equipped Training Centres in Cwmbran and Pontypool. All learning programmes undertaken with Torfaen Training are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. Programmes offered by Torfaen Training: Traineeship Traineeships are for young people up to 18 years old and are designed to give the skills needed to gain employment or progress to further learning at a higher level such as an Apprenticeship or Further Education. Traineeships have 3 different levels to make sure a learner gets the support and encouragement needed to progress: Young people age 16-24 can also apply for Apprenticeships on the Careers Wales Apprenticeship Matching Service www.careerswales.com Apprenticeships for employed people Apprenticeships are a great way to gain recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage. An Apprenticeship is an employment-based programme and will allow a learner or an existing employee to work with an employer whilst obtaining the necessary qualifications to further their career prospects.
