A monetary contribution towards the cost of a physical activity is offered every calendar year e.g. gym membership/equipment. Eye glasses subsidy The City will assist its employees who are experiencing visual problems associated with the use of new/existing equipment. The City will subsidise a portion of the cost of glasses and/or contact lenses after private health insurance rebate. Neck and shoulder massages Monthly neck and shoulder massages may be received instead of the fitness subsidy (mentioned above). Relax and feel fresh throughout your work day! Skin cancer screenings Screenings are offered on an annual basis. Flu vaccinations Annual flu vaccinations are provided free of charge to City of Perth employees. Individual ergonomic assessments The City offers individual assessments that will alter your workstation to a more ergonomically suited position. Employee Assistance Program The City offers an employee assistance program which provides a professional counselling service for employees and immediate family members. Fitness sessions The City offers fitness sessions such as yoga, pilates, thai chi, walking and boot camp programs sometimes in the picturesque gardens within the City. Onsite information sessions, workshops and presentations As part of the health and wellbeing calendar, the City holds regular lunchtime information sessions, workshops and/or presentations. City of Perth bicycles Bicycles are available for recreational purposes and business trips during work hours. How about a ride around the Swan River on your lunch break? Shower/change room and bike storage facilities Council House provides employees with onsite shower/change room and bike storage facilities if you ride your bike to work. Weight Watchers at Work program This program provides the power of a group support weight loss program with the convenience of meetings being delivered at the workplace. Foot Care Management program This program is offered to staff (by management approval) who work in areas where there is the potential for damage to their feet through excessive standing, walking or climbing. Social and team building events Each unit holds social and team building events that can help you get to know your colleagues. Personal Protective Equipment PPE is provided to all employees to ensure you are working in a safe and healthy environment. Safe egress to and from the workplace The City will assist an employee to make safe passage to and from their mode of transport where they may be at risk of danger. This will generally apply to employees who are required to work at night on a sessional or regular basis. Return to work assistance Whether you have been injured or been off work for a long period of time, the City will assist your return to work with ease. Our injury management and rehabilitation program, aims to return you back to pre-injury duties. The City of Perth provides employees: Training and Development Employees will receive on the job training and opportunities for professional and personal development as required. Induction Program All new employees will attend a one-day induction covering corporate information, HR, OHS, EEO and Diversity and the Code of Conduct. Local Government Management Association (LGMA) Challenge The City is involved in the LGMA Challenge which is a team based corporate challenge against other local government authorities that assists in personal development. Flexible Working Arrangements The flexible working arrangements below are subject to position requirements and may not be available to all employees. Working arrangements may be agreed upon commencement or during your employment by contacting Human Resources on (08) 9461 3278 or emailing human. resources@cityofperth.wa.gov.au Employment types Full time, part-time and casual employment is offered by the City. Flexible working hours Depending on the position, the City promotes flexible working hours (i.e. start/finish times). Flexi-time Some employees are entitled to flexi-time. This is where; if you work over a standard 7.5 hour day the balance is credited towards time off. Rostered day off Depending on the position you may receive one rostered day off per fortnight. Agreed day off Applicable to those on negotiated contracts as agreed by the Director. Working from home Working from home arrangements can be made. This is generally adopted by employees who return to work from parental leave. Job share arrangements Where agreed upon, positions can be job shared. 4 Employee Conditions and Benefits
Purchased leave An employee may agree with management to purchase leave and take additional time off. Additional leave days An employee is entitled to 2 additional leave days per year in lieu of the repealed public service holidays. Phased return to work Whether you have been injured or been off work for a long period of time, the City will assist you to return to work with ease. Phased retirement At the City of Perth, retirement can be phased (e.g. moving from full time to part time to casual). This is dependant on the positions requirements. Career breaks In agreement with management, the City will allow employees to take a career break to pursue other interests. Financial Rewards Salary packaging Salary packaging can include superannuation and vehicles (this is dependant on the position). Superannuation The City of Perth offers 2 superannuation plans: Western Australian Local Government Super Plan City of Perth Super Plan (through AustralianSuper) where the City will contribute up to 14% superannuation (if a contributing member). Leave Entitlements Annual leave 4 paid weeks per annum including leave loading (17.5%) (pro rata for part time workers and does not apply to casuals). Personal Leave Employees are entitled to personal leave which includes sick and carers leave. Public Holidays City of Perth employees receive 10 paid public holiday leave days per year. Full time employees have an additional 2 days of paid leave in lieu of repealed public service holidays. Parental/Partner Leave For primary carers you will receive 12 weeks paid leave and 92 weeks unpaid leave. For non primary carers employees can access (at the time of birth): 1 week personal leave or 3 weeks unpaid leave or Other leave. Return to work after parental leave Following a period of parental leave, a full time employee who is the primary carer may, on application to the City, be given access to part time hours from the date of return to work up to the date of the child s 5th birthday. Adoption Leave Available for adoption of a child under 5 years old. Compassionate Leave Employees are entitled to 3 days of compassionate leave per occasion. Long Service Leave Employees will receive 13 weeks of long service leave after 10 years of service. Leave Without Pay This entitlement may be accessed upon agreement with management. Purchase Additional Leave An employee may agree with management to purchase leave and take additional time off. The City of Perth also offers employees Prime Central CBD Location City of Perth Council House is located in a prime central CBD location on St George s Terrace overlooking the Swan River and a short walk to the Bell Tower and Perth Convention Centre. Other City of Perth facilities are also located throughout the CBD and in Osborne Park. Easy Access to Public Transport Train lines and bus stations are a short walk away from City of Perth facilities. Take advantage of Perth s CAT bus service. The City of Perth Depot is located near Glendalough train and bus station. Smoke free environment All City of Perth facilities are smoke free. There are designated areas for people to smoke.
