Introduction communicates via FoIP through a Dialogic Brooktrout SR140 software implementation on RightFax deployments. Brooktrout SR140 is a board-less, host-based FoIP engine that leverages existing field-proven Dialogic Brooktrout fax technology to deliver high levels of performance, reliability, and scalability using multiple communication options, including G.711, T.38, SIP and H.323. Once the call is set up, the fax payload is transmitted via T.38 (recommended) between the fax server, the communication device, and the end point. The end point may be a fax server or a classic fax machine. In the case of a media gateway, the gateway is responsible for connecting the call to the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and completing the path to the receiving device. Typically these devices are part of a larger VoIP/ FoIP infrastructure providing voice, fax, email, and messaging. RightFax interoperability is based on two simple scenarios, and then enhanced based on the vendor s unique product features and functionality. This document will provide guidance on interoperability between the (SR140) FoIP stack and market leading telephony infrastructure. ENTERPRISE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT 3
