Getting Started Page 1 Citrix instructions for FAMIS Monday, April 07, 2014 4:27 PM About FAMIS via Citrix: FAMIS does not work well with newer Java versions currently and needs to have Java 1.6.0_22 through 1.6.0_28. Unfortunately, other Dartmouth applications, such as Kronos and Oracle Applications, are beginning to require newer versions of Java, which causes incompatibility issues. As a workaround for staff that experience this incompatibility, Dartmouth is offering FAMIS via a Citrix connection, with Citrix having the older Java tools needed for FAMIS. Staff can permit Kronos and other applications to update Java on the PC, once they swap to using FAMIS on Citrix. NOTE: FAMIS no longer requires VPN; you can connect either with or without Junos Pulse connected. To start FAMIS from Citrix: 1. Find the Citrix icon in the icons at the bottom right of your computer; the icon looks like two PC's: You may need to click on the 'show hidden icons' triangle to find the Citrix icon. Then, click on the Citrix FAMIS popup to log into FAMIS via Citrix. You may find it simpler to start FAMIS by simply clicking on the shortcut for FAMIS that is automatically created on your desktop by Citrix: NOTE: Most staff are prompted to start Citrix when they boot their PC, which places the icon in this lower right hidden icons area. If you don't see the icon for Citrix, or chose not to start Citrix when booting, you should start it as follows:

If you don't see Citrix in your list of All Programs, please contact the helpdesk for assistance in installing this on your PC. Citrix is installed, by default, on all new Dartmouth PC's. If you do not see FAMIS offered on your Citrix connection, please email Ellen.H.Hackeman@Dartmouth.edu. Authorization to use FAMIS via Citrix is needed for new users. 2. If you are asked to authenticate with the Citrix system, enter your Dartmouth Netid and password (the same account and password that you use to boot your PC and to connect to Outlook). Note that you will not be prompted to authenticate with Citrix, if your PC is already

Enter your oracle account and password. This is the account that starts with "OPS$". 4. ATTACHING FILES USING FAMIS VIA CITRIX: Browsing for files on a Citrix connection is different than browsing on your computer system itself because Citrix is really a pseudo-desktop on top of your normal computer desktop. To get to your PC desktop from Citrix FAMIS, Select the V:\ drive letter. Then Double-click to Open the USERS folder. Then Open the folder with your net id (e.g. D10722w) Last, Open the DESKTOP folder; you should see the documents that are stored on your PC's desktop. To get to your My Documents Select the V:\ drive letter.

Enter \\of_cpf.dartmouth.edu\cpf in the File_name prompt. Click on Open to browse to that folder. Double-click on folders to browse to the desired location. Emailing from FAMIS: The current Citrix FAMIS connection does not allow staff to print a work order ticket to screen and then email the resulting pdf easily, as could be done with non-citrix FAMIS. As a work around, you must right-mouse click on the resulting work order ticket tab that opens and: a. choose the PRINT option b. Choose to print the work order to the WIN2PDF printer:

Click the print button When prompted for the file name, make sure you choose a folder on your PC, so it doesn't default to the Citrix desktop (see above for more information). e. Once the file is saved, browse to your PC desktop, or wherever you saved it, open it and you should then be able to use the pdf FILE \ SEND options to email it. Optionally, you may want to print the work order to a printer and then scan it to email.
