Using a web browser, it s possibly to access Advance without the application being installed on your local computer. Please refer to the Logging on via Citrix documentation below in order to set up Citrix on your Windows or Mac computer for the first time. 2. After following the instructions, you will be able to log on using the credentials provided to you. Your user name will match your Advance logon ID*; however, your password is separate from Advance and must follow the rules of the EA Policy on Network Access Passwords. 3. The first time you log on, your default password must be changed and it must adhere to the above-referenced policy. The system will force a password change every 180 days. 4. For assistance with Citrix, please contact the EA HelpDesk or 310.794.3400. *Unless otherwise specified Logging On via Citrix In order to use Citrix, plug-in software must be installed on the computer you are using. The first time you log on at a PC that does not already have the plug-in, it will prompt you to install it. 5. Open Internet Explorer** and navigate to https://access.support.ucla.edu. 2. Enter your network user ID and password as shown above. 3. Click the Log On button. If your PC needs the plug-in to run Citrix correctly, the following is displayed: 4. 5. Click Install ActiveX Control then click Install in the next window: 6. Click OK to choose English: 7. Click Yes to accept the Citrix license: The Citrix client installs on your workstation and your application window displays. **Internet Explorer is the preferred browser for Windows users; Citrix also operates well with Firefox. Opening Applications To open an application, click once on its program icon. You may leave applications open and minimized on your desktop just as if they were running locally. However, the main Citrix web screen will time out after approximately 30 minutes. Citrix Drive Names Once you are remotely logged in, your network drives and local drives are available for your use. However, your local C:\ drive (your personal computer s hard drive) is named differently while you are remotely logged in. Drive Name Description A$ on Client (A:) Your personal computer s floppy disk drive D$ on Client (D:) Your personal computer s D: drive Development Research Profiles (N:) * Location (on EAFILES\GROUPS\ADVANCEMENT\DR&DS) of the Profiles in Adobe Acrobat format C$ on Client (V:) Your personal computer s C: drive Note: Do not try to save files to the Desktop. Save instead to your local computer s C: drive (mapped as V:). * If applicable. You may also have drives (I: and J:) mapped for Acrobat printing purposes. Printing While logged on remotely, your local printer is your default printer. If you have any other problems with or questions about printing, please call the EA HelpDesk.
