About this Internship Manual The New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN) has a grant from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Addiction Services, to raise awareness about career opportunities in addiction treatment and prevention and to recruit college students into the field. Addiction treatment and prevention agencies across New Jersey employ thousands of dedicated individuals working hard to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve. And more are needed. When someone is suffering from the disease of addiction, professional help is often the first step on the road to recovery. Professionals in the addiction treatment field provide counseling, support and help individuals get back on their feet. They keep families together and help make broken families whole again. Internships can be a great way for students to learn more about a career and gain valuable experience that can lead to full-time employment. Because we want to help students that may be interested in the field of addiction treatment and prevention, NJPN has compiled the following manual, which lists internships that are available in all 21 counties of New Jersey. Students with a variety of different majors may be interested in learning more about the internship opportunities in this manual. Some of those majors may include: o Counseling o Criminal Justice o Education o Public Health o Psychology o Social Work o Sociology We encourage you to share this information with your students and invite them to explore a career in addiction treatment and prevention. 3
