WELCOME Welcome to our Rochester campus Open Day. Rochester houses a range of subjects and specialisms, including Animation, Fashion, Crafts & Product Design and Photogrpahy, as well as Pre-degree courses. At today s Open Day you ll have the opportunity to find out what we do here, explore the facilities and speak to our students and staff. In addition to this you will also have the opportunity to experience our 2015 Graduation Shows - have a look at what our Graduates are achieving this year and what you could potentially achieve if you choose a creative career with us. You will also have the chance to see the UCA accommodation. More information about our accommodation and how to apply can be found on page 8 of this programme. Our Open Day will be open from 9.30am to 2.30pm. During this time you can take part in the following: - Attend a Welcome talk - Visit the course talks you have expressed an interest in - Take a tour of the campus and accommodation - Attend a portfolio advice session - Tour our Graduation Shows - Talk to our staff and students You ll find a full timetable of the scheduled talks on page 6 and 7. GETTING HERE UCA Rochester Fort Pitt, Rochester, Kent ME1 1DZ BY ROAD Take the M2 from either London or East Kent direction, then exit the M2 at junction 3 (A229). Follow the signs to Chatham/Rochester. After the Toys R Us roundabout, stay in the left hand lane and continue onto City Way. After about 2 miles, at the bottom of the hill, turn right at the mini roundabout into New Road Avenue, then after 1/4 mile turn right into Fort Pitt Hill. The entrance to the University is at the top at the hill. Parking is limited on campus but there are pay and display carparks nearby. BY RAIL Trains go to either Rochester or Chatham stations and our campus is an equal distance between the two. However, we recommend that you go to Chatham station as the walk to the campus is slightly quicker and a more direct route. For times and details of trains please see the National Rail website. 4

ACCOMMODATION There is a hall of residence at Rochester, Doust Way, which is situated by the beautiful River Medway and is about five minutes walk from Rochester railway station. All 214 rooms are single study rooms with en suite bathrooms and are furnished with bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, under-bed storage and a noticeboard. If you re looking at the TV Production course at Maidstone TV Studios, you can also apply for accommodation at Doust Way. We aim to house as many new full-time students as possible who want to live in university accommodation, in line with our allocation policy. From the March of your year of entry, and once you have had your offer firmly accepted, you can apply for accommodation through the applicant portal, which will also have information on residents fees and periods of residence. We advise you apply for your accommodation as early as possible. You can indicate the accommodation and type of room you d like and we can take these into account, although we can t guarantee to offer your first choice. The first allocation of university accommodation is carried out in July and on a rolling basis after that - we will let you know the outcome of by email as soon as possible. If you have been successful, you will be able to view and accept/reject your Accommodation Agreement through our online system. Tours will start at 10.15am and at every hour until 3.15pm from the Zandra Rhodes Gallery in reception. ACCOMMODATION TOUR Take a look at the accommodation on campus, guided by a Student Ambassador. Tours will start at 11am and at every hour until 2pm from the Accommodation Desk in the reception area. 8
EXPLORE ROCHESTER Rochester is a historic town with a modern twist. By day, students at this campus enjoy discovering the town s rich literary heritage and beautiful architecture. By night, Rochester s impressive selection of bars. clubs and restaurants become the main attraction for the student community. Places to eat on the day Our refectory on campus will be open for the duration of the Open Day, so you can purchase and enjoy lunch on campus. Alternatively, head into Rochester or Chatham where you ll find a whole host of eateries including Chimichanga, Nando s, Pizza Express, and a range of local restaurants such as gastropubs and other cuisines such as Italian, Mexican and Indian. 9
APPLYING TO UCA The course you choose determines how you apply - this could be directly to UCA or through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). OTHER APPLICATIONS You should apply directly to UCA for: - Graduate Diploma in Art & Design - Pre-sessional English Language PRE-DEGREE APPLICATIONS You should apply directly to UCA for all pre-degree courses. They are very popular and we recommend that you submit your application by the end of March at the latest. When places are filled, we will close applications to these courses. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Prosective students from outside the UK and EU can apply directly via our website or through UCAS for undergraduate courses. Please see ucreative.ac.uk/international-admissions for further information. 10 UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATIONS You should apply via UCAS for all full-time undergraduate courses, and should apply directly to UCA for part-time undergraduate courses. Applications to UCAS must be made online either through the UCAS website or through your school or college using the Apply system.
