Northway Church Ministry Opportunities indicates First Serve Opportunity; requires minimal training Position on Sundays Greeter Guest Services Parking Ministry iconnect (The welcoming of guests) Ministry Director -- Phil Anderson Positioned at each entrance to create an environment of friendliness/warmth as people enter and exit the church. Greeters are also needed for specific roles in the preschool, childrenʼs, and student ministries. Stationed at the two main entrances to provide a central location for answering questions and sharing specific information about Northway. Positioned in the parking lot to welcome and assist guests, direct traffic flow, and assist with parking. Usher Coffee Team Safety Team Medical Emergency Team Ushers greet people as they enter the worship center, assist with seating, distribute bulletins, and administer the offering. Assists in placing coffee urns out on Sunday mornings, and cleaning urns on Sunday mornings. The safety teams purpose is to provide a visible safety presence throughout the church on Sunday mornings and be first responders when a safety need arises. The medical teams purpose is to react when a medical emergency arises. Volunteers on this team are members of the medical profession. on Sundays WORSHIP Worship Choir The Outlet Staging Team The Prayer Room To aid spiritually, vocally, and physically in our music during our worship gatherings. Also, to be a group of men and women who edify and build up the church with bold faith and courageous love. (Audition required.) To provide information to a wide range of spiritual and church related questions while guiding individuals along the Northway Church C3 path. To create worship environments that encourage Christ-centered worship and pave the way for God's word to come alive in people hearts. on Sundays Camera Operator MEDIA Ministry Director -- David Wall Controls one camera position during worship services while receiving movement instructions over headset by the director. (Minimal training required) Lights Technician Controls lighting elements for stage. (Minimal training required) Sound Technician ProPresenter Operations Director Sound mixing and level control for worship services. (Training required) Media presentation (videos and graphics) during the worship service. Controls the main screen during the service. (Training required) Oversees and directs camera operators and mixes shots during the service. (Training required) Note: entry level opportunities in the above areas are available in childrenʼs and student ministries, but all are coordinated by the media director. Family Ministry All positions that work with children 18 or under are required to submit a background check prior to volunteering. on Sundays, some positions for Weekdays Weekday Logistics Hospitality PRESCHOOL Ministry Director -- Jessica Bury Behind the scenes preparation for Sunday morning: decoration, room restocking, craft prep, storage organization and laundry. The unsung heroes of Preschool serve 2 hours during the week! Provide the volunteers with refreshments on Sunday morning. Coordinator Nursery Age Cares for babies & toddlers along with basic Bible instruction. Teacher Classroom Teaching Assistant Assists teacher in caring for children and supporting the lesson being taught. Lead Classroom Teacher Greeters Basic Bible instruction for children. Toddler through 4K classes are available. Greets and welcomes families as they enter the preschool area for childcare giving special attention to guest families. Will assist families with check-in, and ensure all children have their name tag and all bags and cups are labeled. Large Group Leader Sunday Captain Floater Leads Preschool large group session at 10:30 a.m. using a variety of engaging materials including movies, music, Bible stories, and other props. Serves during one service each Sunday and assists with volunteer training and support. Is trained in all areas of preschool ministry. Trained in all areas of preschool and able to serve in any classroom. NW KIDS (5K-5th grade): All positions that work with children 18 or under are required to submit a background check prior to volunteering. KIDS Worship (9:00: 5K-2nd; 10:30: 3rd-5th) Greeters Registration Worship Host Stage Personnel Praise Team Tech Team Family Ministry Hosts Greets and welcomes children and their parents as they arrive for childrenʼs worship. Registers children and gives security tag to parents. Sits with children during worship to encourage participation and supervise behavior. Serve as Hosts, Actors, or Bible story tellers for productions. Lead children in worship, teaching songs and occasional motions. (Audition required.) Media needs including sound operation, ProPresenter operation, lights technician, and camera operators. (Some training required. Positions coordinated by Family Ministry Media Director.) Work with iconnect to greet visitors and accompany them to appropriate check-in areas. KIDS Groups (9:00: 3rd-5th; 10:30: 5K-2nd) Group Leader Group Assistant Helper Coaches Special Needs Ldr Takes lead in presenting lesson, facilitates the development of relationships and community for the small group. Assists leader in presenting lesson and leading group activities as a leader in training. Assists group leaders with crowd control and carrying out activities. The Fe Leader sits with students during Bible session and leads small group discussion for purpose of application. Groups are based on gender and age. Assists Fe leader with small group as crowd control. Also handles communication with group. Is considered a leader in training. Operates sound, lights, and/or media as needed for session. (Some training required. Positions coordinated through Media Ministry Director.) Greets and welcomes students as they arrive for The Forum. Registration Checks students into the churchʼs computer system as they arrive for the The Forum. Also registers visitors as they arrive. Impact -- Sunday Night Bible Study Set Up Crew Food Crew Sets up tables and chairs in the Student Room to prepare for Impact. Serves the food to the students during Impact. May also coordinate the preparation of it; if desired. Student Ministry Special Events Van Drivers Hospitality Drive vans on local or out of town trips. (Motor Vehicle Report required.) Adult Ministry Ministry Leader -- Phil Anderson Home Teams (Small Group Ministry) Home Team Leader Home Team Apprentice Home Team Hospitality Coord. Serve as Facilitator for Home Team leading studies and guiding the group. (Interview required.) Assist leader with group responsibilities. Considered a leader in training. Take responsibility for fellowship aspect of group coordinating food and activities. Home Team Care Coordinator Take lead in staying alert to needs of group members and organizing care when needed. Connection Classes (Sunday morning Bible study) Connection Class Leader Connection Class Mobilizer PLACE leader PLACE coach Starting Point Leader Starting Point Assistant Lead teacher for class which may be grouped by age or by topic. Would prepare and lead studies on a weekly basis. (Training provided, interview required.) Takes active role in class and helps guide class members to continue movement through the C3 process--come to God, Connect with Others, Change the World. Lead teacher for PLACE which will equip class members in identifying gifts and abilities to discover their place of service. Class lasts six weeks. (Interview required, training provided.) As class members conclude taking PLACE, the coach will consult and guide individuals to their place of service. (Training provided.) Lead teacher for Starting Point which is directed to those new or returning to church. For training purposes, a lead teacher may begin as an assistant. Class lasts 11 weeks. (Interview required.) Assistant to lead teacher. Also helps in guiding participants through further steps in C3 process. Other Ministry Opportunities Prayer Team First Impressions Team Garden Club Eleos (Grief) Ministry Meet weekly (Tuesday mornings) to pray for requests listed from the previous Sundayʼs service. Also includes letter writing as encouragement to those being prayed for. Designed to complement other first impressions ministries like Greeters and Guest Services, this team is responsible for sending hand-written notes to follow-up with our 1st and 2nd time guests each week. Access to a computer and the internet is necessary. Utilize gardening skills and abilities to tend to flowers and outdoor appearance of church. Handyman Ministry Missions The Source Assistant The Encouragers Utilize handyman skills to assist with basic home repairs for widows, senior adults, or single parents. Various Mission efforts on local, state and international levels. Assist in operation of The Source bookstore stocking supplies, accepting payment and registration for supplies and events. (Some training required.) Senior Adult ministry involving planning programs, organizing trips, outreach to members, decorations for monthly luncheon. Offering Counters Trustworthy individuals to count offering from each Sunday and make deposit to the bank. Occurs each Monday morning. Outside Ministries Supported by Northway Caring Solutions Pregnancy Center Habitat for Humanity Project Giving Countryside Baptist Mid-State Baptist Association Ministry to women with unwanted pregnancy. Various roles from office support, baby care, parent education, and counseling. (Formerly known as Sav-A-Life Ministry.) Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. No expertise required. Instruction and materials are provided. Ministry to families in financial need. Major emphasis during the Christmas holidays. Partnership with a sister church to provide meals and food boxes to those in need in their community. 3rd Saturday of each month, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. Also help with community garden from which fresh vegetables are grown. Ministry to those with various needs.
