Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in Computer Information Systems The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree is designed for midcareer working adults who have career objectives which the degree would help them achieve. Computer Information Systems (CIS) is a discipline that uses computer systems to gather and analyze information about all aspects of a business. It combines computer hardware and software with organizational and managerial concerns. This concentration will prepare students for a number of computer-related career opportunities, to include systems analyst, systems designer, technical supporter, CIS consultant, information services consultant, or information analyst. The BBA/CIS degree also provides excellent preparation for pursuing the MBA or other graduate degrees in business. It is recommended that students pursuing this degree have proven skills and aptitude as well as experience in this field.

Program Details Possible positions for CIS graduates: As a systems analyst or systems designer, one would be responsible for taking a business or manufacturing process, breaking it down to a detailed level, automating it if necessary based on computer information system technology, and improving it. Systems analysts are also involved in designing and developing complex computer programs to satisfy the needs of business and manufacturing. As a CIS consultant, one would be a principal advisor to a client business on strategy, direction, planning, and development/project management of information systems. This work would include enterprise solutions such as network and database design and implementation. CIS consultants and IS consultants are essentially synonymous. As a database administrator, one would be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of complex database systems for both local businesses and global corporations. Other possible positions for CIS graduates include network analyst, system manager, MIS director (with some experience), applications programmer, support analyst, web page developer, or internet application developer. Day-to-day tasks for all these positions include problem solving, working with a team to solve complex issues, and exercising a logical approach to problem solving. The degree earned at Anderson University is the Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in Computer Information Systems. Most things worth obtaining require effort and sacrifice. The CIS concentration is no exception. It is a challenging program, but it will prepare you to emerge as a definite competitor in the information systems industry. About Anderson University History Anderson University traces its origin to one of the first institutions of higher learning for women in the United States, founded in 1848. The original school was forced to close during the Civil War and did not reopen; but in time a new generation carried on what had been begun at that institution. A group of public-spirited citizens, desirous of having an institution of higher learning in Anderson, offered 32 acres of land and $100,000 to the South Carolina Baptist Convention in 1910. In 1912, the College opened its doors and operated as a four-year college for women until 1930, when it became coeducational. What we know as Anderson University has throughout its history adapted to the educational needs of South Carolinians and those outside the State seeking a great education in a Christian environment. In 2005, the school officially became Anderson University as it added graduate programs and reorganized into colleges. The university is in the midst of the biggest period of growth in its history, having doubled enrollment in the past 12 years. Today, more than 3,100 students enjoy a high-quality education in more than 50 fields of study. Anderson University s scenic campus, located in the historic district of Anderson, South Carolina, benefits from its proximity to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the vibrant city of Greenville, South Carolina. Anderson s campus has recently grown from its original 68 acres to more than 270 acres, including four new major building projects that have been completed within the past four years.
