2 COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is a member of the Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, The Middle States Commission is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the US secretary of education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. CCAC is the largest provider of educational services in western Pennsylvania. It has more credit and noncredit students each semester than the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Robert Morris University, and Duquesne University combined. Every year, thousands of students transfer CCAC credits to the four-year college of their choice. CCAC annually educates 33,000 credit students through 170 degree, certificate, and transfer programs and offers noncredit and work-force development courses to 30,000 students. The learning-centered institution s mission is to provide affordable access to quality education and offer a dynamic, diverse, and supportive learning environment that prepares the region s residents for academic, professional, and personal success in our changing global society. CCAC s high-quality programs enable students to transfer credits to 520 colleges and universities and support regional work-force needs with accessible instruction available day, evening, weekend, and online in Allegheny County and beyond with a focus on entering or reentering the work force in two years or less. EBERLY COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY The Eberly College of Business and Information Technology (ECOBIT) at IUP is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the premier accrediting organization for business schools, ensuring quality of education. ECOBIT provides BS degrees in all fields of business as well as MBA and executive MBA programs in various western Pennsylvania locations. The IUP ECOBIT program at the CCAC Boyce campus is taught by fully qualified faculty members from IUP s Indiana, Pennsylvania, campus. The business program offers several majors, including accounting, general management, human resource management, and marketing. All IUP ECOBIT faculty members are active researchers/scholars in their fields. INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA Founded in 1875, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) draws its nearly 15,000 students from almost every state and scores of foreign countries. With three campuses in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, IUP is one of the largest of the 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and the only one that grants PhDs. IUP is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, , an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the US secretary of education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The university sustains a tradition of high academic quality at an affordable cost. In 45 academic departments within six colleges, IUP offers more than 130 undergraduate degree programs. Graduate programs in many professional and applied areas are available; IUP offers nearly 60 master s degree programs and 11 doctoral programs. The university s internship program is among the commonwealth s largest, providing students with professional experience to supplement their classroom learning. IUP combines the opportunities of a big university with the highly personalized and intimate learning-centered environment of a small college. Its students enjoy traditional and nontraditional classroom experiences, engage in research and service activities with their faculty mentors, become lifelong learners, prepare for rewarding careers and productive lives, and develop leadership skills for effective citizenship. IUP and CCAC are affirmative action, equal opportunity educational institutions. THE COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM General Program Interested in this collaborative program leading to a BS in business? Apply to CCAC for an associate in science degree in the Business Parallel Program 004 by contacting the CCAC transfer advisor. To obtain a BS in an IUP business major, the student will complete 75 to 77 CCAC credits and 48 IUP credits for a minimum of 120 credits. IUP courses are taught on CCAC campuses by IUP faculty members, Monday through Thursday. IUP summer and winter online courses may be taken as approved by the program administrator. Students may attend fulltime or part-time. Registration for IUP and CCAC courses is done through the CCAC/IUP Collaborative Program administrator. Registration is limited to students officially accepted into the program. Transfer Credits Not all of a student s CCAC credits may apply to this program, unless the student started taking CCAC credits with this program in mind. Transfer credits should be discussed with the CCAC transfer counselor or the IUP program administrator. Developmental courses (those numbered lower than 100 or with a DVS prefix) do not count toward the 30 program-specific courses required before being admitted to this program. There is a statute of limitations on the age of past credits. A maximum of 30 transfer credits from an institution other than CCAC is accepted. Tuition and Billing Although a student s CCAC schedule will show IUP courses, those courses are not part of the CCAC bill. CCAC does not bill for IUP courses. Students will receive a separate bill from IUP for their IUP courses. Students will pay CCAC tuition rates for CCAC courses and IUP tuition rates and fees for IUP courses. Financial Aid Students accepted into the program will continue to be eligible for financial aid through CCAC while they are taking CCAC courses. Once students have completed 60 CCAC credits, they are eligible to claim IUP as their primary institution. Since IUP is a four-year institution of higher learning, more aid can be granted. Students should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for IUP financial aid, listing Indiana University of Pennsylvania as their primary institution, with the school code of Additional information about aid is available at Course Materials and Technology-Related Information Students will receive an IUP identification card and Banner ID during their first semester. The card allows access to the IUP library and other university services. Books and other materials for IUP courses may be purchased at the CCAC campus bookstore. Students will be granted access to IUP services. Communication from instructor to student is conducted through IUP . Students are required to activate their accounts once admitted to the program.
