3 Program Details These positions are in high demand as businesses place greater emphasis on supply chain expertise in order to maintain competitiveness in their industry. The proficiency of Anderson students as supply chain managers provides them an advantage in the job market after graduation. Students will be prepared for careers as buyers, inventory managers, materials analysts, purchasing agents, as well as top-tier positions, such as director or vice president of supply chain management. Supply chain managers also enjoy increased opportunities for career advancement as they take on responsibilities for new product development, manufacturing, budgeting and even managing strategy for an organization. Supply Chain Management, Accounting and More Our concentration in Supply Chain Management is one of several concentrations from which you can choose when you enter AU s Bachelor of Science in Business program. In addition to coursework in supply chain management you ll become fluent in many aspects of business, including accounting, finance, economics, human resources, marketing statistics, information technology and law. The Supply Chain Management concentration offers specialized classes to delve deeper into logistics, operations management and business-to-business procurement. Some of the courses supply chain management students will take include: Operations Management. Students will learn about scheduling and planning, inventory control and quality management. For example, to ensure quality, managers must balance the need to test products and reduce costs. Students will learn how to apply Christian ethics when making decisions about protecting consumers as well as company interests. Supply Chain Management. Professors teach the management of inventory inside and outside the organization, international trade, new product development and price negotiation. As buyers and suppliers, supply chain managers must negotiate the best deal for their company. Students will consider the ethical dimensions of these negotiations through the lens of Christian values. Logistics and Distribution. Students explore the specifics of how items are moved physically through a supply chain, including shipment over land, air and sea, warehousing, and distribution. Students will consider how to accomplish these goals as trusted stewards of time and capital. Choosing Anderson Business careers provide extraordinary avenues for Christ-like people to pursue. Business professionals come into contact with others from all walks of life, including Christian and non- Christian, entry-level jobs and CEOs, Americans and people from every culture. Students concentrating on supply chain management have the opportunity to live out Christ s teachings in the way they make ethical and meaningful business decisions through the exchange of products and services with companies all over the world. Always check the current course catalog found on the Anderson University website for the most up-to-date program information.

5 About Anderson University History Anderson University traces its origin to one of the first institutions of higher learning for women in the United States, founded in The original school was forced to close during the Civil War and did not reopen; but in time a new generation carried on what had been begun at that institution. A group of public-spirited citizens, desirous of having an institution of higher learning in Anderson, offered 32 acres of land and $100,000 to the South Carolina Baptist Convention in In 1912, the College opened its doors and operated as a four-year college for women until 1930, when it became coeducational. What we know as Anderson University has throughout its history adapted to the educational needs of South Carolinians and those outside the State seeking a great education in a Christian environment. In 2005, the school officially became Anderson University as it added graduate programs and reorganized into colleges. The university is in the midst of the biggest period of growth in its history, having doubled enrollment in the past 12 years. The University began construction this year on a facility that will eclipse even the library in scope and size. A new G. Ross Anderson, Jr. student center, more than twice the cost and size of the library, will feature a new dining commons, a 400-seat movie theater, a fitness center, bookstore and many other amenities while serving as the architectural anchor of the campus. The 86,000-square-foot facility will open in the fall of Today, more than 3,100 students enjoy a high-quality education in more than 50 fields of study. Anderson University s scenic campus, located in the historic district of Anderson, South Carolina, benefits from its proximity to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the vibrant city of Greenville, South Carolina. Anderson s campus has recently grown from its original 68 acres to more than 270 acres, including six new major building projects that have been completed within the past four years.
