TX2123 RS485 TO ETHERNET ADAPTOR INSTALLATION AND OPERATING DATA ATEX UNDERGROUND MINING APPLICATIONS
1.0 PRINCIPAL FEATURES The TX2123 converts data communications between fibre optic Modbus TCP over Ethernet, and hard wired copper Modbus RTU over RS485. The Adaptor will convert between a single master on the Ethernet side and defined slave devices on the RS485 side. Both ports of the ADAPTOR have galvanic isolation from each other for maximum data security, this feature also ensures that intrinsically safe power supplies are fully electrically segregated. LED indicators on the front of the module provide information about the incoming power supply source and the activity of the communications ports. The operating parameters of the Line Repeater can be set-up to individual requirements using a web interface via a HTTP compliant browser. The device is housed in a robust and compact housing with integral mounting facilities for convenient DIN rail fitting, and large spacious terminals for the connection of heavy duty plant cables. 2.0 APPLICATION TX9042 Programmable Sensor Controller Network System TX9165 Sentro 8 Sensorstation Network System TX2100 Commander Distributed Network System General Approved Intrinsically Safe Data Transmission System and Apparatus 2

Run HTTP web browser on the PC to configure the TX2123 Ethernet Adaptor. Remote slave devices should only be connected to the RS485 side. The maximum number of connected slave devices is limited by the parameters of the appropriate intrinsically safe certification. If there is no response on the RS485 line from the slave device then the Adaptor will take no action, and leave it for the host to establish that there was a communication error. MODBUS messages will be deemed complete when there is a 32 bit timeout period. 5
5.0 TECHNICAL DETAILS (continued) User settings and parameters HTTP INTERFACE A small web interface program runs on the Adaptor and can be accessed via HTTP using any HTTP compliant browser, pointed to the devices IP address. This allows access to parameters which can be set by the user. Range 0.0 to 225.255.255.255 IP ADDRESS Default 192.168.0.199 The IP address may be changed using the web interface. Following a successful change the Adaptor will reboot. Allow a five second delay for new settings to take effect; the web interface will then be accessible via the new IP Address. BAUD RATE Range 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 14400, 19200, 28800, 57600, 115200 Default 115200 PARITY Range Default None / Even / Odd None MAC ADDRESS The web interface will display the MAC address for the Adaptor. RESET The Adaptor can be reset to its default settings by holding the reset switch down for three seconds this will reset the user settings to the default values shown in the table above; note that the Adaptor will be rebooted to allow the default settings to be loaded this function is not intended for normal operation, but only when the IP address has been forgotten, so as to allow access to the Adaptor s settings via the HTTP interface. 6
