Recrdset t XML Tl Intrductin Overview The Recrdset t XML is a Frmat Tl allws the cnversin f ne r mre flat-structure TaskCentre recrdsets int a hierarchical XML structure. It is used t allw perability between the standard TaskCentre Tls such as Database Query (ODBC) with advanced TaskCentre Tls that accept XML as their input. Cnfiguratin A Recrdset t XML Step fr a Task is cnfigured thrugh the Recrdset t XML dialg which is displayed thrugh the fllwing methds: T create a new Step: T pen an existing Step: The dialg cntains the three tabbed panes listed and described belw thrugh which a Recrdset t XML Step may be created and cnfigured. 3

Recrdset t XML Tl Main The Main tab (Ref: Figure 2) is used t select ne r mre recrdsets and cnfigure hw these recrdsets are related, as well as specifying which fields are t be utput in the expsed XML. The tab cntains the fllwing: Figure 2. Recrdset t XML Main tab. Recrdset (area) Fr each Step selected in the Input Recrdsets list abve, a representatin f that recrdsets clumns will appear in this area. Where mre than ne recrdset has been selected, the links between thse recrdsets may be defined. T d this, simply drag a clumn name frm ne table in the Link tab t a clumn name in anther table. This will create a link. Remve Links (buttn) Clicking n this buttn remves any links set up between the tables. Aut Generate Output XML (check bx) If this ptin is selected, then the Tl will autmatically cnstruct an XML structure using all the clumns in the selected recrdsets, using the linked field infrmatin t determine the hierarchy f bjects within the structure. This is displayed in the Output tab and prvides a quick and easy way f creating a hierarchical data structure frm the selected recrdsets by simply defining the key field relatinships. Custm XML - If it is required t create a custmised XML structure then the Aut Generate Output XML checkbx shuld be cleared. In this case, the structure shwn in the Output tab will start with nly a rt nde. Right clicking n a nde will prvide the ptin t create a child nde. This can be repeated t cnstruct the skeletn f the XML structure required. T add clumns frm the input recrdsets, drag the clumns in frm the Task Brwser dialg. Yu will 5
Recrdset t XML Tl Optins set the Scpe t Task t display the required input Steps. Fr each level created in the XML structure, a key field must be set. Right click n a clumn name after it has been dragged in frm the Task Brwser dialg and select Set As Key. T clear the key field designatin n a clumn, right click and select Clear as Key. The Optins tab (Ref: Figure 3) is used t cnfigure the Step behaviur if an errr ccurs when the Step is being prcessed Figure 3. Recrdset t XML Optins tab. The fllwing ptins are prvided fr selectin if the Step is abrted: Abrt Step - If there is an errr mapping a rw then the Step will abrt. Cntinue - The Step will cntinue even if there is an errr mapping an individual rw frm the input data surce. Abrt Task - If the Step is abrted then the Task is abrted. Cntinue - If the Step is abrted then the Task will cntinue nt the next Step in the prcess if ne exists. 6
