In these last few weeks before the competition starts, we have seen a few changes made to the final participating teams, so please take the list below as an updated copy of the crews list that we sent out last week as part of our newsletter. We would first like to make a special apology to our Chinese friends over at Xiamen University we mistakenly labeled them as coming from Ximen University in the previous edition of our crews list, a university that does not actually exist. And congratulations to the newly formed École Polytechnique crew from France, we wish you the best of luck! To the teams who have tried so hard but had to pull out in the end, be it due to financial issues or otherwise, we re really sorry that we won t be able to meet this year. We do hope that we will have the opportunity to see you at the next edition of SYWoC! Pornic II. The City 33 e Coupe du Monde de Voile des Étudiants Pornic is a nice typical French port located near Brittany, one of the most beloved regions by the French tourists (when bright and sunny ). Pornic is steeped in history: the first settlements are dated 5.000 B.C. and megaliths are still visible. Traces of human presence found near the town are even dated - 100.000 B.C.! The castle of Pornic is famous to have been owned by Gilles de Rais (1404-1440). He was a comrade- in- arms of Jeanne d Arc, and was hanged and burned for heresy, numerous murders and crime against nature. Bluebeard is based off him. How do we get there? By road From Paris, Pornic is at a 5h drive (430 km). Nowadays, Pornic is renown for its thalassotherapy institutes, its casino and its pleasure- boating port, of course. Tourism is well developed and you ll find plenty of bars and restaurants in the center of the town. Take a look at http://www.ot- pornic.fr/ to know more, or just lose yourself in Pornic s typical little streets. Regarding the car rentals, you will find many possibilities in Paris- Roissy- Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports (Hertz, Avis, Europcar ). Don t forget to check the age limit regarding the driving licence as well as possible restrictions on foreign licenses. 5

By train to Nantes: TGV from Paris- Roissy- Charles de Gaulle airport: 3h- 4h, 60-70. TGV from Paris- Montparnasse (in the center of Paris): 2h- 3h, 50-70. TGV from Massy (next to Orly Airport): 2h- 2h30, 50-70. For more information about the train, to check timetables or to buy a ticket, you can visit the SNCF (French Railways) website: http://en.voyages- sncf.com We can also pick you up by car at Nantes railway station to take you to Pornic. Just tell us as soon as you know so we can arrange the transportation. Car rental in Nantes You can also rent a car in Nantes: Europcar (https://www.en.europcar- atlantique.fr) Hertz (http://www.hertz.fr) Ada (http://www.ada.fr/location- voiture- nantes- gare- 2.html) Avis (http://www.avis.fr/locationvoiture/europe/france/nantes/nantes- Gare) 6

Different locations for us in Pornic All the major sites of the event are located around the Port de Noëveillard, as explained below. Everyone will sleep at the Maeva Residence in Pornic (www.maeva.com/pornic). The crews will be gathered in 6 bedded cottages or 4-5 bedded apartments. Dinners and parties will take place at the Pornic Golf main room, immediately in front of the residence. The Trophy Ceremony will also take place there. The breakfast will be taken in your appartments, we will provide the food and fresh bread. The race village will be set up just next to the dock, where all the boats will be, and right next to the beach for those of you interested in finding out how cold the sea might be. The Opening Ceremony will be held 2km away from the harbor, in the Salle du Val Saint Martin that the city of Pornic is lending us. 7

III. Program The schedule in here is just for information. Some details are likely to change (hours for example). The final date for you arrival is Saturday, October 19 th. Please tell us in advance the time at which you think you might arrive, especially if you come by train. This year, it is not possible to rent a J80 earlier and practice before Sunday, October 13 th. On Saturday evening will be held the Crews Dinner. Its principle is quite easy: each crew brings back from its country something to eat and drink, and everything is then shared with the other crews. Consequently, don t forget to bring something! You will be able to cook in you apartments. On Sunday will be held the training Race (2pm to 6pm). At 7:30pm will be held the opening ceremony at the Salle du Val Saint Martin in Pornic. Monday 14 th the races begin! At 9am occurs the skippers briefing. For the first one only, every member of the crew has to come. Then, you will be sailing from 10:30am to 6pm. Monday 14 th evening: the Starboard TV will show its marvelous sketches of the first days at the 33 rd SYWoC. Wednesday 16 th evening : After dinner, you ll be given the occasion to taste French wine and Cheese at the Vin & Fromage party and see a projection of the Starboard TV. Thursday 17 th evening: After dinner, you ll have the opportunity to let steam off at the White- Shirt party. Friday, 18 th : The evening is free : you ll have the chance to discover Pornic and walk around, do what you want, get some rest before the last day Saturday 19 th : The last day of the regatta will start a little bit sooner : the skipper s briefing is moved forward at 8am and the race shall begin at 9am and finish around 4:30pm. The closing ceremony is scheduled at 7pm at the Salle du Golf in Pornic. Sunday 20 th : Departure. 10

IV. Don t forget to Administrative work Fill the online sign up procedure. If you have not entirely completed it yet, please do your possible to do it the fastest. We really need all the information. If for some reasons your crews contact didn t tell you that your online inscription is complete, do think to come with a printed version of all the documents required that is to say: student card, third liability insurance certificate, card of membership of your national authority and medical certificate. For French crews: if your license is not stamped by a doctor, please dont forget to bring a medical certificate for sailing in competition. You also must have an advertisement card, which you can get easily on the French Federation s website. In order to ease the inscriptions process, please send us in advance your FFV license numbers. Money money Pay the second half of the fees before the beginning of the event, or you might receive some angry mails from our treasurer. To pay the rest of the fee, first ask the treasurer for the amount which may vary if you have extras. He will reply with the amount you still owe us. In case the treasurer hasn t confirmed that he received the total payment, please bring a bank transfer receit so that we know that the money is on its way. Party all the time? Only after the race I said!!! Crews Dinner. Its principle is quite easy : each crew brings back from its country something to eat and drink, and everything is then shared with the other crews. Consequently, don t forget to bring something! Others For the lodging, sheets will be provided. There is a small kitchen in your apartements also. If you have any allergy or special diet, please tell us soon enough, so that we can prepare meals accordingly. However, we cannot guarantee that we ll always be able to take it into account. 11
