The Bridging Program at UAlberta allows top students to earn university credit while studying to improve their English Language Proficiency. If you re an excellent student who meets all of UAlberta s academic criteria but still needs to improve your English language skills, then the Bridging Program is a great option. After you successfully complete the Bridging Program, you can continue as a full-time undergraduate degree student at UAlberta, one of Canada s leading universities and you may already have some university credit! BRIDGING PROGRAM OVERVIEW THE BRIDGING PROGRAM (BP) is for excellent students who show strong academic achievement and meet all of UAlberta s academic criteria, but still need to improve their English skills in order to meet the English Language Proficiency requirement. Students entering the UAlberta BP can take some university-level courses and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses at the same time. During the program, students will improve their English and can earn academic credit towards a UAlberta undergraduate degree. Students who complete the BP successfully can then continue as UAlberta degree students and take BP3 courses. BP3 courses are available exclusively to BP students and are designed to ensure student success in undergraduate studies. The BP can be completed in as little as four months. You can choose from more than 50 courses during your time in the BP. After you complete the BP, you can continue in your Faculty or prepare to apply to another UAlberta Faculty. WHAT CAN YOU STUDY IN THE BRIDGING PROGRAM? When you begin your studies at UAlberta as a Bridging Program student, you will be part of one of these academic Faculties: Augustana Campus (located in Camrose, Alberta) Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences Faculty of Arts Faculty of Native Studies Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation Faculty of Science

REQUIREMENTS WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BRIDGING PROGRAM (BP)? BP students must meet the same academic standards as other UAlberta students, but can present English Language Proficiency (ELP) scores that qualify for BP Stage 1 or BP Stage 2. 1. ACADEMIC HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS `` You must present the five high school subjects required for your program of interest. `` You must present a competitive admission average. 1 2. ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY (ELP) If you present one of the following, join BP STAGE 1 TOEFL: ibt 65 69 2 or IELTS: 5.0 or successful completion of ESL 130 3 HOW DOES THE BRIDGING PROGRAM (BP) WORK? THERE ARE TWO STAGES IN THE BP: STAGE 1 AND STAGE 2 Your English Language Proficiency scores will determine which BP Stage is right for you. BP STAGE 1 Complete EAP 135 3 (0 credits) Duration: minimum 2 months AFTER YOU COMPLETE BP STAGE 1, BEGIN BP STAGE 2 POSTSECONDARY TRANSFER STUDENTS You must present a GPA of 2.0 3.3 depending on your program of interest. Other admission criteria will vary. If you present one of the following, join BP STAGE 2 TOEFL: ibt 70-85 2 or IELTS: 5.5 6.0 or successful completion of EAP 135 3 or ESL135 4 Note: Please consult the University of Alberta if you present scores from an alternate English test. BP STAGE 2 Complete EAP 140 3 (3 credits) and 145 3 (3 credits) + BP 101 and Introduction to Literature + *optional* 1 UAlberta academic course (3 credits) per term AFTER YOU COMPLETE BP STAGE 2, YOU CAN CONTINUE AS A UALBERTA DEGREE STUDENT AND TAKE BP3 COURSES! 1.
