Creating a Movie Maker Project To Save/Import videos from your cameras: * This process requires you to SAVE the video files before you import them into Movie Maker. 1. Plug your camera into the USB port. Wait until you get the following pop-up and select the option to Open Folder to View files (select Flipvideo ). 2. You will then see the folder that holds all of your video clips. It will look like this: 3. Double click on DCIM and then on 100Video. Then click on the Views Button (look at picture above and choose Thumbnails. This will allow you to see a still image of you videos. You want to select the Video files. They are labeled with a VID in front of their file name. Please see below:

4. Select all the video files that you want to transfer to your V:\ drive by clicking on the first one and then holding down the Shift key and selecting the others. Rick click on one and go to Copy. 5. Double click on the My Computer icon on the desktop. 6. Find the V: drive and double-click to open 7. Find the folder with your name on it and double-click to open. You will save everything to this folder!!! That includes video, possible music, and your working project. 8. Right click on the blank space and select Paste. 9. Open Windows Movie Maker from the Start menu and click on Import video on the left side of the screen:

10. Make sure you go to your folder on the V:\ drive and select all the clips you want to Import (remember to use the Shift key to select multiple clips at the same time). 11. It may take a few minutes for you clips to import but then you are ready to make your movie! 12. Your clips will appear in the Collections on Windows Movie Maker. You may have to click on the drop down menu in order to find all of your clips! 13. You can click on each clip to preview it. Click on the clips and drag them to the storyboard in the movie line.

Storyboard and Timeline views: 1. To toggle between the Storyboard and Timeline views, click the words Show Storyboard that are located at the bottom of the screen! or Show Timeline To edit clip length: To shorten the length of time a photo plays: 1. In the Timeline view, click the photo you d like to shorten or lengthen. 2. Hold your cursor over the end of the clip until you get the following message: 3. Click and drag the photo to the right length.

To split video: 1. In the Timeline view, click the video segment you want to split. 2. Play the segment and pause it where you want to split. 3. Click the Splitter icon under the video preview window. Split Clip button 4. The original video segment will be cut into two parts. You can then click on the unwanted segment and press Delete. 5. Or, you can drag and drop a segment to a new location. To add transitions: 1. Click on the Storyboard view. 2. In the Edit Movie section of the Movie Tasks window, click View video transitions. 3. A selection of transitions will appear:

4. Double-click the transitions to see a preview. 5. When you ve chosen a transition, drag it down to the Storyboard and place it in the square between your clips. Example of transition box To add Titles, Credits, and Information Slides: 1. In the Movie Tasks window, click Make titles or credits. 2. On the next screen, click the link that corresponds to where you want to add the title or credit. **If you want to add an information slide, you must add it before or after a selected clip. 3. Enter the text you want to appear in the title or credits. 4. You can click Change the title animation to select an animation. Preview the options by clicking on them. 5. You can click Change the text font and color to change font, text color, and background color. You can also change the transparency, font size, and position of the title. 6. Click Done and your title or credit will be added to your storyboard. Example of Title

To add music: 7. Save audio or music to your V drive folder the same way you saved images. 8. Then, in the Movie Tasks window, click on Import music. 9. Browse to your folder on the V Shared drive. 10. Open the folder, then double-click the file you want to import into Movie Maker. 11. The audio track will appear in the Collections window. 12. Click on Show Timeline in the Storyboard section of your screen. 13. Drag your audio track to the Audio/Music level of the Timeline. 14. You can click on them to edit and cut them. Saving and Finishing Your Project To save your working project: 1. In the top toolbar, click on File, then choose Save Project As 2. Browse to your V Drive folder. 3. Name your project in the File name box. 4. Click Save. To create your FINAL movie: **When you are finished, you must make the project into a movie file. You will save it to the computer as a Media file. 1. In the Movie Tasks window, click on Finish Movie, then Save to my computer.

2. Name your movie and Browse to your folder on the V drive. 3. Click Next 4. Leave settings as they are on the next window. Click Next. 5. Your final project will save to the designated folder. Enjoy your finished movie!
