1 Using Greenscreen in imovie This lesson wil l show how to use the greenscreen effect in imovie09 Create a new project 1 - Open imovie and click on 'File'. 2 - Next, choose a 'New Project'. Naming your new project 1 - Give your project a name. 2 - Choose the 'Standard' aspect ratio. Using Greenscreen in imovie - 1
2 3 - Click 'Create'. Changing preferences 1 - Click on the imovie menu item. 2 - Click on 'Preferences'. Using Greenscreen in imovie - 2
3 Advanced Preferences 1 - Make sure you click on the 'General' Tab. 2 - Where it says 'Show Advanced Tools' check the box so the arrow appears. 3 - Now close the imovie Preferences, by clicking on the red 'x'. Your new look workspace 1 - Your workspace will now have a few extra features to it. 2 - Now, to capture you greenscreen film, clikc on the camera icon. Using Greenscreen in imovie - 3
4 Recording your Greenscreen film The isight camera will open up. Position your laptop so the camera can see your greenscreen materaial/screen/cover paper etc. 1 - When you are ready to film, click 'Capture'. Using Greenscreen in imovie - 4
5 Saving your greenscreen images 1 - Choose to save your greenscreen film in a new event. 2 - Name the event something you will remember. 3 - Click 'Capture' and start recording your greenscreen. Finishing your Greenscreen filming 1 - When you have finished filming, click 'Done'. Using Greenscreen in imovie - 5
6 Using your greenscreen film 1 - When you have clicked 'Done' your greenscreen filem will be saved in the event library under the name you gave it before. 2 - When you click on the event, the film you took will be ready for you to use. 3 - You can view what the film looks like in the preview screen as well. Adding your greenscreen to background images/videos 1 - Click on the media library type you want to use with your greenscreen. In this example I am using still iamges I have in iphoto. You could use videos you have on your computer as well, by clicking on the video tab. Using Greenscreen in imovie - 6
7 2 - Choose the event the photo you want to use is in. 3 - Find the event the event list you want to use and click on it. Finding your image or video 1 - Click on the image you want to use so it is highlighted in blue. Using Greenscreen in imovie - 7
8 Adding your background image to your project 1 - Now drag your selected image to the timeline. Changing the length of the background image If you are using images as your background, you wil need to change the length of time for the iamge to match the length of your greenscreen video. Double click on the photo in the timeline and you will see this window. 1 - Change the duration to suit how long your greenscreen video goes for. 2 - Choose if you want this time for just this image or all iamges you use. 3 - CLick deon when you are finished. 9 Selecting the greenscreen video for the background image 1 - In the library, select how much of the greenscreen image you want to use so it is highlighted yellow. Adding the greenscreen video to the background image 1 - Drag the greenscreen video up to the the timeline and place it on top of the background image where you want it to go. 2 - You will then see a pop up menu with some choices, select the 'Green Screen' option.
