PAGE 2 School News & Announcements Transition Ceremony May 21 Our transition ceremony is an event to celebrate the accomplishments of our kindergarten, 5 th and 8 th grade students as they finish the year and get ready to transition to the next grade level. It is on Thursday, May 21, at 2:30 p.m. in the PGA gym Everyone is invited to attend, but you will definitely want to make plans to attend if you are the parent of a kindergartener, 5 th grader, or 8 th grader! Graduation Commencement Senior Graduation Commencement and Banquet Friday, May 22 at 10:30 Spring Program for K-8, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. Kids Rock Kids Rock will be performing at the Spring Program on May 19 at 5:30 p.m. Students should plan to wear their Little Kids Rock t-shirt (or a dark t-shirt) and jeans. If your student plans to perform with us, they should plan to attend the May Kids Rock practices on Tuesdays from 3:30 4:30. CMAS Testing Continues: Grades 3-5 Tuesday May 5 and Wednesday May 6 starting at 8:30 Grades 6-8 Tuesday May 12 and Wednesday May 13 starting at 8:30 Root Beer Floats Last Day for Root Beer Float Sales Tuesday May 5 th during lunch Fine Arts News The Circus is coming to PGA on Tuesday May 19! Grades K-5 will be putting on a spring musical that evening for your enjoyment! Continued

PAGE 3 We have been busy practicing our parts so if you know your child will not be able to attend the show, let me know ASAP. Students in grades K/1 will need to be dressed like lions. (Orange, yellow, brown sweats would be perfect or even a t shirt in that color will do) Students in grades 2/3 will need to be dressed like clowns- wigs, hats and goofy clothes welcomed! We are in need of a child size mouse costume if anyone has one available for our mouse to borrow. Thanks in advance. Mrs. West nwest@psdschools.org morp: May 8th, 6:30-9pm High school students, Student Council invites you to join us for backwards prom! Tickets are $20 and include a pizza dinner and 2 hours of laser tag, laser maze, ropes course, and climbing wall fun at Loveland Laser Tag. If you are bringing a guest, you must have a guest permission form filled out by May 1st. Tickets will be on sale in the front office April 27th-May 6th. See Mrs. McGrath with any questions or for a guest permission form. Heath News Parents of students in Colorado Schools, K through 12 th Grades school year 2015-2016, the Colorado law has changed some of the requirements for immunizations. 2 doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine are now required for all K-12 th grade students. Please see the main office with any questions. We will be sending out noticed to those student who will need a second Varicella immunization. Medications cannot be sent home with students at the end of the year. Parents must pick up all medications on or before the last day of school. The last day of Options is Monday, May 18 th. Thank you.

MAY 2015 Celebrations & Student Highlights Elementary Student Highlight (K-5) Katelyn Robinson 2nd Grade Katelyn Robinson is a great example of someone who shows SOAR in the classroom. One of her greatest strengths that makes her so successful is how she takes ownership of her learning. Katelyn is self-motivated, very respectful, and a great role model for her classmates. Katelyn has grown so much this year and strives to be a successful student. Keep up the amazing work Katelyn! Andrea Kidd 5th Grade Andrea has worked so hard this year at home and at school. She has shown great growth in all areas! Andrea is a very kind and thoughtful student. She is always willing to help a friend or teacher in need. Keep up the great work Andrea, and you will do fabulous in middle school! High School Student Highlight (9-12) Jamie Cook, 11th Grade Jamie is an excellent example of the achievement that results from hard work and grit. She has been very successful in her classes while balancing a demanding schedule of training and competing full time in competitive horse riding. In addition to managing her time well, she has taken ownership of her learning by asking great questions and participating fully in live class. She is also a positive leader in her role as managing editor on the yearbook staff. We are very proud of your commitment to your education and your success Jamie! PAGE 4

PAGE 5 Celebrations & Student Highlights Continued Congratulations to Cody Moncrief and Bri Smith who are both completing their Career Pathways Programs at Front Range Community College in May! Cody will be completing the Automotive Technology program and Bri will be completing the Medical Careers Exploration program. Way to go!! Congratulations to the following students who have been nominated for the Masonic Community Award recognizing outstanding students in the Poudre School District! They were honored at the Public Schools Recognition Night on April 29 th. Kylie Smith & Steven Ramirez Jacob Greenwood has just been ranked 5 th in the nation in his weight class for wrestling!

Teacher Appreciation Week is the perfect time to personally thank your students teachers for their sacrifices and support for children throughout the year.
