Using the myitlab Installation Wizard The myitlab Installation Wizard helps you set up your computer so you can access assignments and media components in your myitlab course. This document walks you through each step of the Installation Wizard. Please have this document available as you use the Installation Wizard. Preparing to Install Before you can begin the installation: You must have Administrator Rights to this computer (if you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista). Your computer must allow the installation and use of ActiveX controls. If you use America Online or another internet service provider with its own browser, you can connect to the Internet as usual, but you must use a supported Web browser. We recommend Internet Explorer 7.0 & 8.0. How do you know whether you have Administrator Rights? If you are using your own computer or you have installed software on this computer before, you already have Administrator Rights. If you are using Windows XP, you can check whether you have Administrator Rights: Right-click the Windows Start button. Look for the text Explore All Users (but do not select it). 1. If you see this text, you have Administrator Rights. 2. If you do not see this text, you do not have Administrator Rights. In this case, please contact your IT Administrator for help. You cannot install without Administrator Rights. If you are using WindowsVista, you can check whether you have Administrator Rights: Begin by closing out of any open applications (including Internet Explorer). Click the Start button and navigate over to the Internet Explorer icon. The icon may be on your desktop, directly pinned to the Start menu, or in another location depending on your level of customization. Right-click on the icon and select 'Run as administrator.' You are ready to proceed with the software installation. If you do not see that option when you right click on the Internet Explorer icon, you do not have Administrator rights. In this case, please contact your IT Administrator for help. You cannot install without Administrator Rights. How do you know whether you have the correct ActiveX settings?
