EXCEL XML SPREADSHEET TUTORIAL In this document we are going to work with our Excel XML spreadsheet that we used in Video 1. You have now identified your shoe products and have one image of each of these products. You are now going to find the UPC codes for these images. Remember, for approval we are going to need five (5) products and one of those five (5) products needs to be a product with a Parent/Child relationship. I will show you how to find the UPC codes in Video 2, or you can follow this PDF and you will be able to do all the steps. Let s open up the Excel XML spreadsheet now and minimize it so you can access it throughout this video tutorial. We are going to enter some data onto the spreadsheet that we will find in our Seller Central account. Open your Seller Central Account now. Click on the Inventory Tab
From the drop down menu click on Add a Product. This is the area you will be working from: Go back to your Excel spreadsheet and copy and paste the name of your first shoe in the Find it on Amazon box then click search
This is the data that gets returned after you press the search button The shoe I have the image for is the Aqua shoe. This is the first shoe on my list so I am going to create the Parent/Child relationship with this first shoe. I am going to copy the name of this shoe, including color and size in cell number three on my Excel spreadsheet and also add the size to column C
This is my first Child in the Parent/Child relationship. I am now going to add the UPC code for the Child product to my spreadsheet. You get the UPC number under the product name you can see it in the image below. You do not need a UPC for the Parent cell Copy and paste the UPC code in the cell on your spreadsheet You will notice that the number pasted into the spreadsheet is not the same number as the UPC code we need to edit this so that it is correct. This has to do with the formatting of Excel XML I am going to show you in the next couple of images how to correct this. This is the easiest way to do this without going into formatting Excel. In the sheet look above column E and you will see the area that says format cells
Click on format cells and you will see a drop down menu click on Format Cells A pop up will appear after clicking on Format Cells click on the number on the left and in the area in the middle where is says Decimal Places: remove the number 2 and bring it to 0 (zero)
Press Okay and the number will format correctly. Now you are going to find your second shoe for your second parent/child relationship. Find another shoe, in a different size in the data that got returned in your search Enter this shoe into row 4 on your spreadsheet
Now you will add the UPC code for that shoe the same way you did it for the first shoe. Now you will add a product number in Column A For the parent it will be 1000 For the child names it will be 1000 plus the color and the size Also add in Column C the shoe size leave the Parent cell blank Now you are going to go back to the Amazon Product Page to gather information for the template for this shoe. You are going to click on See All Product Details, and the product page will come up. Copy the URL of the product page that comes up. You are going to have to use this to get more information for the Amazon flat-file template. Save it in a word doc so you can access it later. My URL for the Miz Mooz Dita shoe is: http://www.amazon.com/dp/b00qgz7zec
On the product page you are going to be searching for information that you will need for your Flat-File Amazon Template. You are first going to find the style on the Amazon Product Page and enter into Column E in the Excel spreadsheet. ENTER THE STYLE IN THE PARENT AND BOTH OF THE CHILD ROWS. Enter the product description on your Excel spreadsheet in column F. The Product description needs to be at least 50 characters. For these purposes, keep it to 50-80 characters. Make column F wider in your spreadsheet, so you can fit the description in the cells. ENTER THE STYLE IN THE PARENT ROW AND BOTH OF THE CHILD ROWS. You will find this information on the Amazon Product Page.
Now you are going to enter the price for your product in column G. Enter the price in both of the Child rows, BUT NOT IN THE PARENT ROW. Just pick one of the prices listed. You will find this information on the Amazon Product Page.
In column H enter the material type of the shoe. You will find this information on the Amazon Product Page. I found this in the bullet points, but you may find it in the Product Description. ENTER THE STYLE IN THE PARENT ROW AND BOTH OF THE CHILD ROWS. Enter the Country of Origin in Column I (This will be the same as Country as Labeled) You will find this information on the Amazon Product Page. Enter the Country in both of the Child rows, BUT NOT IN THE PARENT ROW.
Next you are going to add the bullet points in Columns J, K, L, M that are on the Amazon Product Page. If the shoe product does not have bullet points, search the Customer comments and pull out that information. This does not happen often. Enter the bullet points in both of the Child rows. DO NOT ENTER THEM IN THE PARENT ROW Follow the directions above for your other shoe products. But remember, you only have to have one product with a Parent/Child relationship.
For your other products you are not going to use just the name of the shoe. You are going to choose one shoe with a size from the product detail page and copy and paste in your spreadsheet, overriding the original shoe name. For my second shoe I chose this shoe: This is a copy of the Excel spreadsheet with this product entered. After you enter all the data in the Columns and rows for your next shoe, go back and repeat the process for your other 3 shoes. My product URL page for this shoe is: http://www.amazon.com/see-kai-run-kalia- Toddler/dp/B00I9413A0/ref=sr_1_2?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1427498125&sr=1-2&keywords=See+Kai+Run+Kalia+Mary+Jane You are still going to have to go back to the product pages for more information on your shoes for the flat-file template, but this will give you a good head start. Save your URL s for the Amazon Product Pages for each of your shoes so that it will be easier for you to access your information. You will find all of the information that you need on the Amazon Product Page. This is what the first few rows of my Excel spreadsheet look like
As I stated earlier, this will help when you have to enter the data into the Amazon flatfile template.
