Instruction Sheet Installing the 7-Day Digital Startup Timer WARNING: Allow only qualified personnel to perform the following tasks. Observe and follow the safety instructions in this document and all other related documentation. 1. Description The Nordson 7-Day Digital Startup Timer is used to turn on heater and control circuitry in Series 5000 units over a seven-day period. This feature is useful in bringing the material to application temperature before production personnel arrive. 4701064 Fig. 1 The 7-Day Digital Startup Timer The 7-Day Digital Startup Timer will not cut power from the heating and control circuitry. This is done either by the auto shutdown feature (if installed) or by manually setting the Series 5000 main disconnect switch to OFF. NOTE: The Series 5000 auto shutdown feature cuts power from the heating and control circuitry if the pump solenoid has not been energized within a preset time range as established during the Series 5000 setup procedure. The 7-Day Digital Startup Timer kit is easily installed inside a Series 5000 unit electrical enclosure using the mounting hardware included in this kit. Included are a solid state timer with a liquid crystal display (LCD), relay, wiring, and mounting hardware.
2 Installing the 7-Day Digital Startup Timer 2. Safety WARNING: Danger of electrocution. Disconnect equipment from the line voltage before performing this installation. The input side of the main fuse block remains electrically energized even with the main disconnect switch set to Off. Failure to observe this warning can result in equipment damage, personal injury, or death. CAUTION: Ensure that all electrical connections are made correctly. Incorrect connections may cause equipment damage. 3. Bracket and Relay Installation Perform this procedure to install the timer kit mounting bracket and solid-state relay. 1. Disconnect and lock out input electrical power from the Series 5000 unit. 2. Unlatch and open the electrical enclosure door. 3. Locate the five factory-drilled holes in the drum melter electrical enclosure inner panel. L1 L2 L3 Q3 ON 2 CONN2 KM OFF OPEN COVER 3 KA1 1 Fig. 2 Electrical Enclosure Details 1.
