entrepreneurship Look, Mom, a dead rainbow! Isabella three years old on seeing oil on a rainy road.
entrepreneurship Education is by nature conservative. We can only teach what we know. Curriculum is often slow changing: Fractions, the periodic table, Hamlet, The Russian Revolution. Practice makes perfect / Practice makes permanent
entrepreneurship Academic content from early 60s to now has roughly doubled: More topics must now be taught: sooner and faster higher and deeper broader
entrepreneurship On their 18th birthday students : Have been alive for 157.800 hours Have spent fewer than 13.000 hours in school Less than 8% Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: Whether or not children will learn does not depend primarily on what happens in school, but on the experiences, habits, values, and ideas they acquire from the environment in which they live.
entrepreneurship Dean Kamen Founder, FIRST President, DEKA Research & Development Corporation The rich kids of the world, the ones that should be excited to raise the bar would rather be conspicuous consumers of technology rather than to be conspicuous creators of it.
entrepreneurship Stephen Jay Gould We are patterns seeking animals.
entrepreneurship Edward de Bono: The brain is designed to be non creative. If the brain were creative, life would be impossible. With 11 pieces of clothing to put on in the morning there are 39.916.800 ways of getting dressed. If you tried one way every minute you would need to live to be 76 years old using entire walking life trying ways of getting dressed. Fortunately for us, the brain is designed to form stable patterns for dealing with a stable universe. That is the excellence of the brain and for that we should be very grateful.
