B (European) Since October 2014 I am a member of AIGE - Italian Electronics Group Association. Since January 2014 I am a member of IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Since September 2013 I am a member of SPIE - the international society for optics and photonics. Since September 2012 I have been recommended as journal reviewer for Applied Physics Research (CCSE). During the academic year 2010/2011, within a group of three students, I have successfully designed and tested a prototype for a wireless telemetry system based on a microcontroller unit. This work was the final project for the course "Digital Electronic Systems Design" held for the Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Palermo. The system was based on Atmel microcontrollers programmable via the ISP peripheral interface. The schematics and complete layouts of the printed Page 3 / 5 - Curriculum Vitae of

circuit boards were designed with KiCad. During the academic year 2010/2011, in the "Young Academics Project" proposed by the Palermo division of AEIT (Italian Federation of Electrics, Electronics, Automation, Computer Science and Telecommunications) I have been listed among the top 20 students of the Department of Automation, Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering and I have been awarded with the qualification of AEIT's "Young Fellow". In 2008, during my experience at Center for Electronics Research in Sicily (CRES), I won 1 out of 250 paid internships provided by the project "Company Internships Finalized On Developing Experimental University Thesis" 4th cycle, financed by F.S.E. - POR SICILIA 2000-2006. The thesis dealt with the design of an embedded system consisting of a MCU and a data acquisition module for evaluating specific geophysical parameters. The system was based on a Microchip microcontroller programmable via the ICSP peripheral interface. The schematic and the layout of the printed circuit board were realized with Cadence OrCAD. At the CRES I have also attended an online course concerning company organisation theory and project management; the course duration was 395 hours. On behalf of the Department of Physical Chemistry Filippo Accascina of the University of Palermo, in 2008 I have designed the website 2nd Residential Summer School Chemistry and Conservation Science 2008. From 2004 to 2011, on behalf of the University of Palermo I have cooperated with Dr. Francesco Caruso (ETH Zürich, Institut für Baustoffe - Physical Chemistry of Building Materials), Dr. Francesco Giannici (Department of Physics and Chemistry) and Prof. Michele A. Floriano (Department of Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies) in an educational program named Magic of Chemistry, consisting in a series of chemical and physical demonstrations performed for middle- and high-schools.
