ITINERARY France is an enchanting country that evokes elegance, opulence, and richness. But the country is so much more than luxurious castles, fashionable cities, and delicious food and wine. France has an incredible history spanning thousands of years, history that can be found in every crevice of its countryside. Each region is unique, and amid the beauty of the mountains, coastline, and cities there are charming small towns filled with friendly people who embrace the true meaning of joie de vivre. Educational Tour/Visit Cultural Experience Festival/Performance/Workshop Tour Services Recreational Activity LEAP Enrichment Match/Training Session DAY 1 Monday, 27 March 2017 Relax and enjoy our scheduled flight from Phoenix to Paris. DAY 2 Tuesday, 28 March 2017 Our 24-hour Tour Director will meet us at the airport and remain with us until our final airport departure. Our private coach and driver will be waiting to transfer us to our Paris area hotel. Paris is one of the most iconic cities in the world, filled with culture and history, monuments and museums. Known as the City of Light, Paris is a million things to a million people. No writer has ever been able to truly capture Paris in words, and only the experience of being there can begin to express the grandness and magic of this incredible city. Our base for the next seven nights will the Paris area where breakfast will be at the hotel. Lunch or dinner will be included daily (determined by the final sporting arrangements). After we check-in and unpack, gather together for a welcome meeting and orientation. We will have some free time this evening for sightseeing and exploration around the area of our hotel. DAY 3 Wednesday, 29 March 2017 We will participate in a Training Session at a local field. The training session will be led by your own coaching staff and are designed to prepare the team for upcoming friendly matches. (Training sessions may be in the morning, afternoon or evening and will be determined by the final hotel location, field availability, and the schedule of activities for the day). Enjoy a walking tour in Central Paris as we take in many historical and cultural sites and monuments. We will see the awing Arc de Triomphe, built in honor of all those who fought and died in the French Revolutionary War and the Napoleonic Wars. Pass Les Invalides, a former military hospital built for war veterans by Louis XIV before finishing our walk to vies the Eiffel Tower, which has become a true symbol for Paris. This evening we will play our first Friendly Match against a local club or school team. The team will meet and compete against athletes of similar ages and skill levels, and have the opportunity to make friends for life. (The teams you will play will be selected after time of booking and will be based on the specific skill level and requirements of your team. DAY 4 Thursday, 30 March 2017 Visit the Musée D'Orsay, which is housed in a former railway station. It features mainly French art from 1848-1915, and is best known for its impressionist masterpieces by Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Cezanne. Paris is one of the most important centers of fashion in the world. We will visit the elegant stores of Au Printemps and Galeries Lafayette for a first-hand look at the latest trends in fashion. The remainder of our day will be free to enjoy shopping or sightseeing on our own. DAY 5 Friday, 31 March 2017 We will take a Walking Tour of the Latin Quarter, to include Shakespeare & Co., the famous English-language bookstore founded by Walt Whitman s grandson, the Sorbonne, the oldest university in France, the Rue Descartes, la Place de la Contrescarpe, and Rue Mouffetard, with its wonderful restaurants and shops, and the residences where Verlaine and Hemmingway lived when they were in Paris. Visit Notre-Dame Cathedral. Work began in 1163 on a spot that had been a holy shrine since Roman times. Over the centuries, the cathedral has been the scene of some of France's most momentous occasions, including the coronation of Napoleon. This evening we will play our second Friendly Match against a local club or school team. The team will meet and compete against athletes of similar ages and skill levels, and have the opportunity to make friends for life. We have contacts at every level and take great pride in finding the perfect fit for each friendly match). DAY 6 Saturday, 01 April 2017 Tour the renowned Louvre Museum with a local specialist guide. We will see Leonardo da Vinci s Mona Lisa, the imposing Coronation of Napoleon, and many of the finest paintings and sculptures from western civilization. Walk through the Jardin des Tuileries, the Neo-Classical gardens outside of the entrance to the Louvre and continue to La Place de la Concorde for a magnificent view of the Champs Élysées. Time permitting we will explore the Champs Élysées, which offers a beautiful look at Parisian life and architecture. Ascend the Arc de Triomphe, a massive triumphal arch commissioned by Napoleon. Today, it is a symbol of Paris and is home to the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This evening we will attend a professional soccer fixture match (dependent upon schedule at time of booking) DAY 7 Sunday, 02 April 2017 We will participate in a Training Session at a local field. The training session will be led by your own coaching staff and are designed to prepare the team for upcoming friendly matches. (Training sessions may be in the morning, afternoon or evening and will be determined by the final hotel location, field availability, and the schedule of activities for the day). This afternoon visit The Stade de France, the national stadium of France, situated just north of Paris in the commune of Saint-Denis. Its seating capacity of 81,338 makes it the fifthlargest stadium in Europe. The stadium is used by both the France national football team and French rugby union team for international competition. 2
DAY 7 Sunday, 02 April 2017 We will play our third Friendly Match against a local club or school team. The team will meet and compete against athletes of similar ages and skill levels, and have the opportunity to make friends for life. (The teams you will play will be selected after time of booking and will be based on the specific skill level and requirements of your team. We have contacts at every level and take great pride in finding the perfect fit for each friendly match). DAY 8 Monday, 03 April 2017 We will participate in a Training Session at a local field. The training session will be led by your own coaching staff and are designed to prepare the team for upcoming friendly matches. (Training sessions may be in the morning, afternoon or evening and will be determined by the final hotel location, field availability, and the schedule of activities for the day). Enjoy a Walking Tour of Montmartre and the Moulin Rouge. As we stroll past the Moulin Rouge and some of the other sites associated with several great writers and painters, including Hemmingway, Gertrude Stein, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Visit the many quaint restaurants of the quarter, once the home of Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec, van Gogh, and Pissarro. And watch the many contemporary artists of the area translate their vision onto paper and canvas. This evening we will play our fourth Friendly Match against a local club or school team. The team will meet and compete against athletes of similar ages and skill levels, and have the opportunity to make friends for life. DAY 9 Tuesday, 04 April 2017 Our rewarding and enjoyable tour comes to an end as our Tour Director accompanies us to the airport on our final day. 3
