Why is this important? After time, these laws often get misquoted as fewer and fewer of us see them ourselves and we depend on hearsay. This presentation will show the actual laws and apply them to real-life cases. Attendees will leave with new knowledge, or be empowered in their current knowledge, by reviewing the laws. 1. The speaker will demonstrate the effect of documenting medical necessity for inpatient admission to include Medicare compliance, provide examples of key words for physician documentation, clinical factors of InterQual criteria, and RAC review. Attendees will discuss options for two-day observation stays, with typical clinical scenarios from discharge to the PA s role. 1. A link to federal programs to include those active in the state of Georgia will be provided. Attendees will participate in a discussion on how incentives are changing the relationships among health care providers. 1. Identify three ways that downstream providers are being incentivized to reduce readmissions and how this will impact acute care case managers 2. Identify programs that might benefit their patient population 3. Demonstrate an understanding of how other care provider groups are contributing to the improvement in Georgia s readmission rate
