Overview Landing Page When you have logged-in to etv you will be taken to this page that defaults to Editors Picks - a list of recommended new programmes. Other options are to view your Favourites list, see the Most Viewed and Most Recent uploaded programmes. Main etv Logo When you are on other pages in etv just click the etv Logo on the top left of any page to return to the Landing Page. Page Footer At the bottom of each page you will see links to Request a Recording, Contact Us or Report a Bug. You will also see links to all sections of the website. Top Menu There are 5 main sections in etv On Demand, Live Channels, My etv, Reports and Search. On Demand has TV Recordings, Curriculum Collections and the Library. TV Recordings are from Free to Air, Sky and International Channels. Click the Channel icon to see each Channel s selection. Curriculum Collections Short instructional videos downloaded by etv from authoritative websites. Organised by NZ Curriculum Subject Channels. Note: Staff users can request videos to be downloaded or ask for specific content searches to be made to locate suitable instructional content to be uploaded into etv. Please use the Request a Recording Notes field or the Support button to make a request. Requesting a Recording Note: Available to Staff only. Students requiring a recording to be made should contact a member of Staff. Fill out the required fields, and you can also view upcoming programme guides on a link at the bottom of the yellow box NZ Free to Air (TV1, TV2, TV3, Prime, Maori TV, Choice TV, Cue, Four and Te Reo) and International Channels, etv records and holds all programmes broadcast for 13 days. You can request us to keep any programme for 2 weeks after broadcast. SKY channels still require advance recording notice. Please give at least 1 working day notice of your request and ensure that all weekend programming requests are submitted by 2pm on Friday. If you see a programme you want on a SKY Channel after broadcast, please request us to record it on a repeat since most SKY channels have a high repeat rate. On the right side of the page you are able to view programmes that other teachers have requested to be recorded on etv. If the programme you require is not featured there you can request a recording. Keep in mind that etv routinely records all the main News, Current Affairs and documentaries on NZ Free to Air channels and records all programmes listed in the Screenrights Guide. If your institution has a Screenrights licence you can subscribe yourself for free. Please go to http://eepurl.com/i8mhr and fill in your details. Library This is where organizations upload videos available for users to access. All Catalogues are identified by Logo. Your own institution may have a Library Catalogue of internal videos accessible by staff and students only. Channel and Catalogue Result pages Clicking a logo will create a quick search result for programmes in a Channel, Collection or Library Catalogue. Programmes are displayed in most recently added order. You can change the number of results displayed on the page on the top left. Search within a Channel Page using the Search box located on the top right of the page that will look within that channel or catalogue only. This is a predictive search displaying results as you enter each letter. Hover your mouse of the the programme name and the description will pop up in a box. Click at the top of each column to reorder the display numberically or alphabetically. Click the Thumbnail or Title to go to the Programme page. etv Account Coordinator Guide. - 9-23 August 2011
Programme Page Clicking on a programme link will take you to the programme page. Video Player Control Bar Below the video screen is the control bar. The duration of the programme appears to the right and the timeline marker where you are in the programme appears to the left. Play/Pause Volume Timeline Duration Full Screen To play the video click the Play/Pause button or click on the screen anywhere. To fast forward or rewind click and drag the button on the timeline. You can immediately move to any part of the programme. The time into the programme will show above the cursor. To enlarge to full screen, click the icon on the far right of the toolbar. etv will automatically detect your bandwidth and select the appropriate bitrate. Recording Quality: Please note that programmes recorded prior to October 2011 are at a lower quality than those recorded since that date. Options Menu Click on any keywords to be shown other programmes featuring the same keywords Other episodes of the series Options Menu The Options Menu allows you to add the video to your Favourites Folder, Recommend this Programme by email to a friend, and to Share this Programme. Add to Favourites This will add the programme to your Favourites Folder. Staff Users can then add Keywords and upload Related Materials. Once added this star icon will appear next to the Channel or Catalogue Logo. To remove a video from your Favourites click on the Remove from Favourites in the Options menu. (To view all your Favourites or add them to folders, go to the My etv section or click the Favourite star logo) Recommend this Programme Recommend a programme enables you to email a contact about a video. The email will include a link to the programme within etv so a login will be required to view. Share a Programme Enables you contact other etv users about the video via numerous social networking applications, click on this and a selection will appear. You can then place a link and information on the programme on your pages there. Keywords, Related Material and Comments To add Keywords, Comments or Related Materials you need to first add the programme to your Favorites. Note: Only Staff can add Keywords and Related Materials. All Users can add Comments. With these 3 options you have the ability to control who can see your added Keywords, Related Materials and Comments. Note: All Users means everyone on etv can see. Adding Keywords To add Keywords, click the Add Keywords button, then add Keywords, select the access level, then click the Add Keyword to List button to the right. Many keywords can be added. Multiple-word Keywords can be added separated by a comma. Adding Related Materials To add Related Material either select a file from your computer or add a URL, select the access level, then click the Add Related Material button to the right. Note: Add only one Related Material at a time. Adding Comments To add Comments, type a comment in the box, and then choose who can see it. Download Features To download the Programme video file, click Download Video. Note: Downloads are only available to Staff users. Not available to Students. Licensing information regarding distribution of the Programme video file will appear on the next screen and you must agree to the terms by ticking the checkbox. Finally, click the Download button, which appears once the I Agree checkbox is ticked. If the download does not start, click on the link that will appear below. Downloading Metadata To download all information about the video (metadata) select the option on the menu and an.xls file will download from the site. Embedding Codes Embedding code provides a script that will allow a player screen of the video to display on other webpages, emails and Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard and Moodle. User Logins are not required to view the programmes once embedded. Note: Embedding Codes are only available to Staff users. Live Channels Watch live streams of National and International TV Channels. Next to the Channel name above the player window is a link to the Channel s online schedule. NOTE: If you do not see the channel logos below the live player screen using IE, please use Chrome, Firefox or Safari. My etv In My etv you are able to view your Favourite programmes, and in Personal Details - view and change your Password and User Name. NOTE: Not available for Single Sign On Users. Favourites Clicking on Favourites will take you to a list of all the programmes you have Archived or selected as a Favourite. To view the Programme page just click the title. Creating Folders Your Favourite videos can be sorted into Folders. To create a Folder, type the name you want to call the folder, then click Add a new Folder. A new folder has now been created. Select the Folder you want in the Folder dropdown list. To view items in each Folder click on the arrows on the Select Favourites Folder, then select the Folder you want to view. You can now view the videos in the Folder. Search Options There are several ways to search etv content across the whole site. Standard Search Click in the Search box, for a standard search start to type Keywords. By clicking Search Now or enter, a full search list page will display based on your keyword(s) entry. Advanced Search You can refine your search using the Search Filters below the Search keyword entry field. You can make multiple selections within Age Levels, Categories, Sources, or Subjects. Search Results On the Search Result page prioritisation will first display, in highlighted gold, programmes with the word(s) found in their Title, followed by programmes with the word(s) included in the Description, Subject, Keyword or Tags fields. Multiple, different Word Matches can be searched with search results displaying in order - results with the most different words matched take priority over those with fewer different word matches. Note: To refine a search click the << Start search again link at the top of the page. REPORTS Here you can see what has been viewed or downloaded by yourself. Select a date range from the pop-up calendars, select an option to report on View on Demand or Downloads, then click Generate Report.
