Facebook www.facebook.com Facebook is the most well known social networking site. Facebook had 955 million monthly active users by the end of June 2012. Facebook is particularly good for local businesses, or those retailing products. Let s look at why! 7

To set up a facebook business page You will find step by step guidance in your module handbook to take you through the whole process. If you already have a facebook page, skip past these pages. 9

Like what they do and comment on their status updates to build rapport and to keep your presence there When you set up your page facebook gives you a unique web address www.facebook.com/yourbusinessname. Use this web address as a link to direct people to your page 12

Pay-Per-Click: A marketing system on the Web in which the advertiser pays when the user clicks on its advertisement and goes to its site You can narrow down the audience you want to reach by gender, location, age, interests, relationship status & other factors. You set the budget and are only charged when someone clicks through the advert to your page 18

Use a social media support tool like Hootsuite to preprogramme messages to be sent out through your social media channels to save yourself valuable time having to regularly update. 21
