NATIONAL LAW SCHOOL OF INDIA UNIVERSITY, BANGALORE ADVANCED CENTRE FOR RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING IN CYBER LAWS AND FORENSICS [ACRDTCLF] NATIONAL SEMINAR ON CYBER SECURITY & CYBER LAWS ISSUES & CONCERNS 27 TH & 28 TH DECEMBER 2014 Advanced Centre for Research, Development and Training in Cyber Laws and Forensics [ACRDTCLF], established at National Law School of India University, Bangalore under the initial financial support of the Department of Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of Indiaaims to spread awareness about Cyber Laws and Cyber Forensics and provide training to Judicial Officers, Public Prosecutors, Investigating Agencies, Cyber Security Personnel, Law Teachers, other Law professional, students and general public. With the object of mainstreaming research in the area of cyber security and cyber law, the Centre conducts various research projects. To further
achieve this objective, the centre will be organising a 2 days National Seminar on Cyber Security and Cyber Laws Issues and Concerns on 27 th and 28 th December 2014. SEMINAR PRE-NOTE Due to technological advancement of society, many issues have arose in relation to the integrity and security of cyber space, information, privacy, intellectual property rights, electronic transactions, etc. The Indian Information Technology Act, 2000 being the primary source of cyber law with its 2008 amended provisions is currently dealing with various issues relating to cyber technology s use and abuse. Additionally, laws such as Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Indian Contract Act, Intellectual Property Rights [IPR] laws, Banking laws etc complement the current Indian Cyber law framework. Research and development in the area of cyber security is also of immense importance today and is the need of the day. Such research indeed must contribute and lead to further development of cyber laws and regulatory mechanisms of the country. Hence the seminar. The Seminar will provide a platform for the scholars and researchersfrom the area of cyber security laws so as to facilitate deliberationand exchange of ideas amongst them about this crucial issue of concern. A concise form of selected paper s findings and ideas will be submitted in form of PROPOSALS FOR CHANGE to the Department of Electronics & Information Technology [DeitY], Ministry of Communications &Information Technology, Government of India.
CALL FOR PAPERS Well researched papers on the main theme of Cyber Security and Cyber Laws are called for presentation in the technical sessions of the seminar. The sub-themes of the seminar [not limited to]are: 1. Cyber security and laws of India and other countries. 2. Data protection. 3. Privacy concerns on cyber space. 4. Crimes on social media. 5. Protection of children and women on cyber space. 6. Investigation of cybercrimes issues and concerns 7. Cyber forensic technical cum legal perspective 8. Evidentiary issues in the area of cyber security 9. Judiciary on cyber security 10. Laws and concerns in relation to any -Selected/ Specific forms of cyber-crimes [such as hacking, cyber pornography, identity theft, spoofing, cyber stalking, software piracy, etc. Any one form of cyber crime can be selected as the focal theme of the paper] 11. E-security in banking system. 12. E- Commerce and cyber security concerns 13. E-Governance and cyber security concerns. 14. Providing / developing an alternative law / policy framework to secure cyber space Etc. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: - An Abstract of the research paper, not exceeding 250 words, accompaniedwith a Covering letter containing: Title of the Paper, Full Name of the Author/authors, Complete Address with
Contact Number and E-mail Address must be submitted as attachment via email to clf@nls.ac.in - The last date for submission of abstract is 15 th October, 2014. - Notification of the accepted abstracts will be done on/ before 21 st October, 2014. - Selected abstracts of the papers will be published in the Book of Abstracts. - The text of the abstract must be in MS WORD FORMAT WITH TIMES NEW ROMAN, FONT OF SIZE 12 &WITH 1.5 LINE SPACING. - Abstract must be accompanied with key words. FINAL PAPER SUBMISSION: Following selection of the abstract, a final paper must be sent on or before 30 th November, 2014 and must be presented in person in the seminar. The paper must be accompanied with a Covering letter containing: Title of the Paper, Full Name of the Author/authors, Complete Address with Contact Number and E-mail Address must be submitted as attachment with an email toclf@nls.ac.in The submissions received shall be matter of review by the respective law experts of the selection committee. The decision of the selection committee shall be final. The Committee reserves with it the exclusive rights to publish final papers presented in the seminar and to select findings of the papers to be made as a part of the PROPOSALS FOR CHANGE to be submitted later to the Department of Electronics and Information Technology [DEITY], Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India. The text must be in MS WORD FORMAT WITH TIMES NEW ROMAN FONT OF SIZE 12 AND WITH 1.5 LINE SPACING. The footnotes [no end notes] must be - TIMES NEW ROMAN WITH FONT SIZE 10 WITH LINE SPACING OF 1.0 Length of the paper should be between 5000-6000 words.
