Faculty of EDUCATION SCIENCES Curriculum stipulation BEd Curriculum: Foundation Phase (Programme Code: 422100) Students must develop the ability to demonstrate communicative, numerical and technological skills in such ways as to facilitate own academic learning. Within the different specialist fields in the curriculum, the focus is on literacy, numeric and life skills. Students receive specialist training within the specific learning phase to promote learning progression and holistic development. The mastering of certain teaching and learning strategies, assessment practise and how to behave in an ethical professional way and be accountable, enjoys attention in this programme. The curriculum exists of generic and more specialist modules. The curriculum is offered over four years with specific credits which must be obtained yearly. This qualification is directed on the education of educators who wants to educate learners from Gr. R to Gr. 3. Work integrated learning forms part of the professional development of the student within each phase.
BEd Intermediary and Senior Phase (Program Code: 422101) The BEd Intermediate and Senior Phase students are expected to master certain outcomes successfully over the four years of study. Students will be specialising in the following learning areas: Natural Sciences, Technology, Languages, Social Sciences, Life Orientation, Mathematics and Culture. Within the specialist curriculum fields the students will be expected to demonstrate certain skills concerning education and learning strategies, assessment practises and how to be ethical, professional accountable within the various educational contexts. The curricula are compiled from certain modules and offered over four years. The curricula exist of generic modules and main subjects or more specialised modules. Work Integrated Learning forms part of the professional development of the student within each phase. BEd Senior and Further Education and Training Phase (Programme Code: 422102) BEd Senior and Further Education and Training students are expected to successfully master certain outcomes The integration of knowledge and skills can be obtained within the following specialist fields within the various available curricula: Education Afrikaans, Education

BEd Senior and Further Education and Training Phase - Technology (Programme Code: 422112) Specialist BEd (Technology) programme 422112 is one of the most popular training opportunities for teachers and lectors in the scarce Technology field with specific training in: Engineering Graphics and Design plus a choice of: Electronic Technology Mechanical Technology Civil Technology Cognitive skills and development with regards to design and graphic communication (Engineering Graphics and Design) Skills and application of Electronic and Electric principles (Electric Technology) The skills and knowledge in terms of the Civil environment (Building and Construction and Woodwork - Civil Technology).
