Selection In the selection of Koolen vibration motors the physical properties of the products concerned play an important role. The correct value for the torque of Koolen vibration motors can often only be determined by trials. By using the selection table in the ways described below you can make a reasonable selection. Selection Method 1) In the selection table find the motor speed suitable for your application. 2) Determine the average distance (Sn) suitable for your application and the accompanying motor factor (M). 3) Determine the weight of the machine part that must be vibrated (effective weight) NOTE: do not calculate for the weight of the product in the vibration channel. 4) Calculate the torque (AM) needed for your application with the formula: AM = M x G installation x 5n. 5) Select from among the models the motor type with the speed and torque required for your application. NOTE: for elliptical vibration you can maintain the value for the torque used for step 4) or directional vibration you need to divide the value calculated under 4) for the required torque by two. This is because you use two motors. 6) Check your selection with the following formula: 20 AM mm 10 AM mm Directional vibration: Sn = elliptical vibration: Sn = G inst. + G mot. G inst. + G mot.
