Installing the VPN Client for Microsoft Windows OS 1. Go to the VPN Information Center web site and click on the Cisco VPN Client for Microsoft Windows OS link. 2. A File Download window will appear. Click on the Open button. A window similar to the following will 3. Enter C:\temp into the Unzip to folder field replacing the default directory. The window should look similar to the one below: 4. Now that the laptop has been restarted and the Cisco VPN has been completely installed, you will need to launch the Cisco VPN client. A Cisco VPN client icon will appear in the system tray (which is located at the bottom right hand corner of your screen). Double-click on the Cisco VPN client icon and the client will launch. Once the client has launched a window similar to the following will

Click the Group Authentication radio button. In the Name field enter the name of the IPSec group to which you belong (this entry is case-sensitive; this will be provided to you when you officially sign-up for VPN access). In the Password field, enter the password (the password is also case-sensitive; it will be provided to you when you officially sign-up for VPN access for your IPSec group. The field displays only asterisks). Verify your password by entering it again in the Confirm Password field. Click the Save button to save the connection entry.

The Cisco VPN client will encrypt your data via IPSec (encrypting your data via IPSec, whether the data is non-critical or critical/confidential, protects it from unauthorized persons trying to gain unauthorized access to the data you are sending or receiving over the USC network).
