Installing the Citrix Receiver for Windows desktop or laptop Application Based (Citrix.com) RemoteAccess is the University's new service allowing you to access your University IT systems from anywhere with a reliable Internet connection, on pretty much any device that supports Citrix Receiver. It gives you access to a Windows 7 Desktop, called Trinity Desktop, all your files and shared drives, and a wide selection of University applications. Installation To access the services published in RemoteAccess, you will first need to install Citrix Receiver. 1. In your web browser go to http://www.citrix.com/go/receiver.html. 2. Go to Where can I download Citrix Receiver on other platforms and devices? and pick your device. 3. Click Save and then Run to install. 4. Accept the user Licence Agreement. 5. Once installed click Add Account.
6. Type in your user name, which is your staff name or student number followed by your password. The most important thing to remember is that you must add @leedstrinity.ac.uk to the end of your user name - e.g. 000456@leedstrinity.ac.uk or j.smith@leedstrinity.ac.uk depending on whether you are a student or a member of staff. 7. Then click Next. 8. In the Citrix Receiver log on pop up window type in your user name, which is your staff name or student number followed by your password. As above, you must add @leedstrinity.ac.uk to the end of your user name - e.g. 000456@leedstrinity.ac.uk or j.smith@leedstrinity.ac.uk, depending on whether you are a student or a member of staff. 9. Then click Log On. 10. When prompted Do you want to allow Citrix Receiver to make changes click Yes.
11. Then click Finish. 12. RemoteAccess is now installed.
Configuration If you click the + tab on the left side of the Citrix screen you can add any application to your start screen. 1. The specific applications are located within one of several sub menus as shown in the example below. 2. Once on the desktop you can click on a specific App icon to run it.
Trinity Desktop To run a full Windows desktop and for access to printers, drives and user folders, click on the Trinity Desktop. This will look and behave as if you were logged into a PC on campus. Logging off - please ensure that when you are finished, you log off from the Trinity Desktop as if you were logging off from Windows. Do not simply close the Trinity Desktop window. Please do not use the disconnect option either - as shown below. This may cause you to be locked out of your AD account after a period of time.
Local Drive Access If you do not have access to your local drives and USB memory sticks in RemoteAccess, please check the following settings are correct. (Please note that this feature is not available when you download Citrix Receiver via the Windows Store.) 1. After opening the Trinity Desktop in RemoteAccess, click on the black drop down menu at the top of the screen: 2. Then select Preferences. 3. Select the File Access tab and then Read and write.
4. Click on Apply and then OK to exit. This should give RemoteAccess the ability to see your local drives and USB memory sticks, which will be under the section Other. If you need to print, you can copy and paste the file from your documents folder to your C drive then you can print from your home machine.
Netwisp To run Netwisp within RemoteAccess please follow this procedure. 1. First launch Trinity Desktop (note - do not add Netwisp as an app on your machine). 2. Within Trinity Desktop, go to the Notification area (at the bottom right corner of the task bar, near the time and date) and double click on the Citrix Receiver Icon. Alternatively, you can access Citrix Receiver from the Start menu by clicking on the Start button (at the bottom left corner of the screen).
3. Log on to the Citrix Receiver using the username and password you used previously. 4. Once in Citrix Receiver click on the + tab on the left side of the Citrix screen. 5. Click on Netwisp, which is within the Analysis Apps sub menu. It will then be installed to the start menu on the Trinity Desktop. 6. Now minimise the Citrix Receiver window. 7. Within the Trinity Desktop, Netwisp will now be available within your Start menu, under All Programs > Netwisp V4.
