What is a SIP A Structural Insulated Panel The biggest aim of a 'true SIP is to remove the amount of structural element i.e. timber studs & structural steel in order to create a simple building panel and one that can be easily worked and installed. SIPs are prefabricated solid sheets of building material that are constructed of a layer of rigid foam core, Expanded Polystyrene Foam (EPS) sandwiched between Two layers of structural board (MagRoc ). Strong. QuickWalls share the same structural properties as a I-beam. An Engineer would compare this composite structure with a steel universal l beam. The rigid insulation core,the EPS acts as a web, MagRoc board fulfils the function of the flanges Load-bearing -- Instead of having the weight of the structure centred on the frame studs, the entire shell is able to shoulder the load.
