Ongoing Groups Ongoing groups are volunteer operated groups that are supported by the city of Kitchener Adults 50+ division. These groups provide low-cost/no cost activities on a regular basis (e.g. weekly, monthly and seasonally). No registration is required and all participants must have a valid VIP membership Amigos This social group meets to celebrate the Spanish culture through crafts, games, and many other activities. Downtown CC Saturday 9:15am 3:00pm Meet year round Bid Euchre Bidding in this game is the only difference from the game Euchre. The highest trump is the jack of the trump suite and second Jack same colour suit. A double deck is used containing two of each card. Join this exciting game. Canasta With three, four, or six players, Canasta is an easy to learn card game. Played with ordinary playing cards as used in Whist or Bridge Anyone familiar with card games can learn Canasta in a few hours; however, a good memory is helpful. Rockway CC Tuesday 9:30-11:30am Hand & Foot Canasta Hand & Foot is a Canasta variant involving four to six decks rather than two and is played by teams of two players (usually two teams, but it also works with three or four teams). The number of decks used is typically one more than the number of players, though this can vary. Some players feel this version is more enjoyable for beginners. Rockway CC Friday 9:30-11:30am Nordic Pole Walking The Nordic Pole Walking Program is a fitness program. Walks will take place around the Rockway Gardens and Rockway Golf Course. An indoor option is available. Leaders have been properly training to assist you in getting the best fitness experience from your poles and using the proper technique to reduce the risk of back/neck/shoulder soreness. Poles are available at Rockway for purchase. Rockway CC Wednesday 1:30-2:30 $1 per walk Opera Club Come watch a video of a wonderful opera and then join in the discussion. Everyone enjoys that opportunity to share what they enjoyed and their feelings of the opera. Pay-As You-Play Programs Pay as you play programs are organized by the City of Kitchener staff in the Adults 50+ division with the daily play of these activities looked after by direct city volunteers. No registration is required for these programs but individuals must purchase and hand in tickets for each time they participant. Cost of tickets are $3.22 for members and $5.76 for non-members. Books of 10 tickets available at a reduced price.. Tickets can be purchased at either Breithaupt or Downtown CC main offices. Badminton Breithaupt CC Monday 9:00-11:45 am Breithaupt CC Thursday 9:45-11:45am Pickleball Pickleball is a relatively new racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Equipment is provided at DCC.
