2015 Faculty ROBERT J. BIES DR. DOUGLAS M. MCCABE MIKE MEARS ELIZABETH JOHNSON MIKE TORREY ROBERT J. BIES (Ph.D., Stanford University) is Professor of Management and Founder and First Academic Director of the Executive Master s in Leadership Program at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He is currently the Academic Director of the Executive Master s in Leadership Program for D.C. Public Schools Leaders. Professor Bies current research focuses on leadership, the delivery of bad news, organizational justice, and revenge and forgiveness in the workplace. DR. DOUGLAS M. MCCABE is Professor of Management at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business in Washington, D.C. Considered by the news media to be an expert in his field, Dr. McCabe has appeared more than 200 times on international, national, and local television and radio discussing his views on the various management topics of management consulting practices, negotiation, mediation, employee relations, ethical issues in management, human capital management, labor-management relations, leadership and organizational behavior. MIKE MEARS is a leadership speaker and consultant to government and private sector organizations. Along with his CIA operational experience, Mears brought about numerous innovations, and founded and headed the CIA Leadership Academy. He earned his undergraduate degree at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and his MBA from Harvard Business School. ELIZABETH (BETH) JOHNSON, MS, RD, founded Food Directions, LLC, in February 2010. Johnson s unique experience and skill set help clients gain valuable insight into the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Capitol Hill. MIKE TORREY, principal and founder of Michael Torrey Associates, has more than 25 years of experience in legislative and regulatory policy development, fiscal management, issue analysis, lobbying strategy, communications and association management. CLAUDINE KAVANAUGH, PH.D., M.P.H., R.D., is a health scientist at the FDA, working on nutrition science and health policy issues in the office of foods and veterinary medicine. DAN CHRISTENSON is deputy chief of staff at the USDA and will discuss agency priorities and current programs which impact the snack industry.
