2011: A year in images TECHNO SKY GETS NATO AQAP QUALIFICATION 2110/160 LIBYAN DELEGATION VISITS THE ROMA ACC Rome, 12 January - Techno Sky, the company 100% controlled by ENAV, dealing with the management and maintenance of plants used for the air traffic control, has received qualification by the Ministry of Defence General Directorate for Telecommunications, Computer Systems and Advanced Technologies (Teledife), of the Techno Sky Quality Management System compliance with NATO AQAP 2110 publications. This qualification allows participation in tenders announced by military organisations for the design of installation, maintenance and technical assistance activities for plant and electronic systems to support flight operations, guaranteeing to the customer the intervention of the Government Quality Assurance Representative according to the NATO publication STANAG 4107 - Mutual Acceptance of Government Quality Assurance and usage of the AQAPs. Ciampino, 14 January - A Libyan delegation from the aeronautical sector visits the Area Control Centre (ACC) in Roma-Ciampino. The delegation (in the photo), which included the President of the LCAA (Libyan Civil Aviation Authority), was welcomed by ENAV Director General, Massimo Garbini, and the Head of ACC, Rinaldo Malè, who illustrated the functioning of the radar room controlling 63% of Italian airspace, and development of the technology connected with the air traffic management undertaken by ENAV. ENAV ATTENDS THE 4 th BLUE MED GOVERNING BODY MEETING MEETING OF THE FLIGHT SAFETY RESEARCH CENTRE ASSOCIATION Malta, 24 January - The Maltese Ministry of Transport and Communications hosts the 4th BLUE MED Governing Body meeting, attended by all the representatives of the project member countries: Italy, Greece, Malta and Cyprus, as well as the partner countries: Egypt, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Lebanon and Albania. The aim of the meeting was to formalise the planning process for the institutional agreements for the implementation of the FAB BLUE MED. Forlì, 24 February - The ENAV Academy in Forlì hosted the Second Forum on internationalisation, organised by the Confindustria in Forlì-Cesena with the contribution of the Forlì-Cesena Chamber of Commerce. Attended above all by entrepreneurs, there were also representatives of the universities, banks and local authorities, to discuss the topic of internationalisation and foreign markets, considered as the basis for determining the coordinates to fly high again. ENAV COURSE IN THE UNIVERSITY MASTER DEGREE IN CIVIL AVIATION MANAGEMENT CHINESE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL PERSONNEL AT THE ENAV ACADEMY FOR AN UPDATE COURSE Rome, 28 February - ENAV is participating in the University Masters Degree course in civil aviation management with a lecture on the potentials of the Single European Sky for the Italian aerospace sector. The degree course is provided by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace at the Sapienza University of Rome, in collaboration with the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI), ENAV, the Italian Consortium for Aerospace Research (CIRA), the Demetra Research Centre, Italian National Union for the Aviation Sector (UNICA) as well as with the participation of important industries such as Esperia Aviation Service and Elitaliana-Freeair. Forlì, 28 February - Twenty-six air traffic control staff from CAAC/ATMB, the Chinese company for air traffic management, attend an update course at the ENAV Academy Training Centre in Forlì to consolidate their skills in flight assistance services. The Chinese experts are from Shanghai Airport, considered to be one of the world s top five airports. 2

2011: A year in images ENAV ATTENDS ATC GLOBAL 2011 Amsterdam, 8-10 March - ENAV participates in ATC Global, the most important European appointment dedicated to management and air traffic control activities and services. As in previous years, it was held at the RAI Exhibition and Congress Centre in Amsterdam. The ENAV stand also hosted the subsidiary Techno Sky, specialised in the management, assistance and maintenance of air traffic control facilities. ENAV presented the new commercial proposal developed for the world of Air Traffic Management and the international projects in which it participates: SESAR, BLUE MED and 4-Flight. Some international meetings between the major representatives of the projects in which the company is involved were also held at the stand. ENAV GETS THE CIVIL PROTECTION GOLDEN MEDAL 35 th ICASC MEETING Rome, 14 March - The Head of the Civil Aviation Department, Franco Gabrielli, awards the Gold Medal for the efforts made by the Italian Company for Air Navigation Services to assist the population in Abruzzo struck by the earthquake on 6 April 2009. The medal was accepted by ENAV CEO Guido Pugliesi, (first on the left). This public award was issued under a decree by the Prime Minister dated 11 October 2010 for the corps, agencies and persons who contributed to the rescue work after the earthquake. 2011: A year in images THE COPIT VISITS THE ROMA ACC AND ENAV S NEW EGNOS ROOM THE COURT OF AUDIT GIVES A POSITIVE EVALUATION OF ENAV, ONE OF THE BEST EU SERVICE PROVIDERS Ciampino, 21 March - A delegation of the COPIT (Parliamentary Committee for Technological Innovation) visits EGNOS Room at the ENAV Area Control Centre of Rome Ciampino. The delegation appreciated the high technological standards of the facilities, and agreed to promote an adequate awareness and information about the EGNOS project among our representatives in the Italian and European Parliament. Rome, 29 March - The report to Parliament by the Court of Audit on the management of ENAV contains yet another positive evaluation for the 2009 financial year, stressing that the Italian provider has been confirmed a one of the best European ATC service providers. In the report, the Court of Audit observed that ENAV has further improved its operational and management efficiency, also thanks to the use of considerable financial resources for new technological investments to guarantee the increasingly high reliability and quality standards in the sector. AIRBUS - ENAV MEETING ENAV PARTICIPATES IN THE EUROPEAN AERONAUTICS DAYS Madrid, 1 April - ENAV participates in the European Aeronautics Days during the session dedicated to SESAR. The symposium is organised by the European Commission to collect the testimonials of representatives of the aeronautical sector, the ATM industry, the airline companies and energy producers. 2011: A year in images ENAV INAUGURATES THE NEW CONTROL TOWER AT THE VENICE AIRPORT CEREMONY FOR THE AWARDING OF THE DIPLOMAS FOR THE 1 st and 2 nd FISO COURSE Venice, 3 May - At the Marco Polo Airport in Venice, ENAV inaugurates the new Control Tower a futuristic building 53 metres high for air traffic control. It is one of the most technologically advanced facilities in Europe, designed to handle the current 75,000 movements per year, making the Marco Polo one of the most important airports. CONFERENCE ON CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURES AND DRAFT LAW IMPLEMENTING THE EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE Forlì, 6 May- The ceremony for the awarding of diplomas to the participants of the 1st and 2nd FISO (Flight Information Service Officer) course was held at the ENAV Training Centre Academy in Forlì. This new professional figure, provided for under the ICAO International regulations, will be certified by ENAC. The 27 graduates will be assigned to AFIS or FIC at the ACCs. ENAV MEETS NATS REGIONAL PERFORMANCE FRAMEWORK WORKSHOP Ciampino, 15 September - At the Roma ACC, ENAV meets top management for Operations of the British provider NATS. The aim of the meeting was to identify the specific areas for focusing best practices. The British delegation, led by Simon Hocquard, NATS Operations Director, was welcomed by the Head of the Operational Area, Massimo Bellizzi, and the Head of the Rome Area Control Centre, Rinaldo Malè. The appointment was unanimously approved by the airlines, airports and all the other European service providers, with the full support of the EU Commission for the Single European Sky, the Body formed by the representatives of the States and the civil and military aviation organisations of the EU Member States.
