MiraCosta College now offers two ways to access your student virtual desktop. We now feature the new VMware Horizon View HTML access option available from https://view.miracosta.edu. MiraCosta recommends that you use the standard view client whenever possible, but in those few instances where you are unable to install the client or your installed client displays a black screen, you may now use the VMware Horizon View HTML Access option. If you choose to use the HTML access option verses the standard client you will lose the ability to use USB drives with your virtual desktop.

To load the VMware Horizon View client on a PC 1. Make sure you have an internet connection (if you are on campus, you must authenticate your SURF ID and SURF Password on the login screen using any browser) 2. You need to determine if you have a 32- or 64-bit operating system. Follow the instructions below to determine this: a. Left click on your start button b. Right click on Computer on the right hand side of the start menu c. Left click on properties d. Under system properties you will see your version 3. After determining your operating system, from any browser type in https://view.miracosta.edu 4. Click on the Icon Install VMware Horizon View Client 5. Click either VMware Horizon View Client for 32-bit or VMware Horizon View Client for 64-bit. (Do not select any link with local mode in the link name). 6. Click on the Download button at the bottom of the page. 7. Click on Run or Save to save the file, (if you saved the file, find and launch the downloaded file) 8. Click yes, if you receive a pop-up asking to allow VMware, Inc. control of the computer. 9. Follow the prompts to install the VMware client software, accept default settings. At the Default Server Window, in the Default View Connection Server type: view.miracosta.edu then hit next.

10. Continue to accept the default settings by hitting next until you get to the Ready to Install the Program window, then hit install. 11. When the installation is complete, click the finish button. 12. Click YES to restart your computer 13. Find the VMware icon on your desktop or in your All Programs area of the start menu. 14. Double click on the VMware View Client Icon. In the VMware View window, in the area to the right of Connection Server you should see view.mircosta.edu if not type: view.miracosta.edu in the box to the right of Connection Server. 15. Click connect. 16. Click OK after reading the MiraCosta College compliance statement. 17. Login with your SURF ID and SURF Password and then click Login. 18. On the next window you should see Student with the words log on to desktop below it, this desktop should be selected. 19. Click connect again You can save your work to the Virtual Lab Desktop as you are working. When you are done email your work to yourself or copy your files to your Google Drive. When you disconnect from the VMware desktop any work saved to the desktop will be lost.
