Curlewis Public School Newsletter From the Principal s Desk: Dear Parents and Community Members, Thursday, April 07, 2016 Term 1 Weeks 10 & 11 Students at Curlewis have had a very busy first term with many quality learning opportunities and experiences across all key learning areas. They have all strived to improve and I am very impressed with the efforts of every student. Congratulations to all students for their tremendous effort to wear correct school uniform Monday to Thursday this term. The kids look great!! It is requested that all children wear formal school winter uniform for the community Anzac Day March during the holidays and from the first day of Term 2 they will be in full winter uniform. Parents should be very proud of their children and congratulate them for their fantastic efforts to improve in their schooling this term. It just shows that a small school can cater to the needs of all students! As this is our last newsletter for the Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity to thank students, staff, parents and community members for their contributions to our school throughout this term. I hope everyone has a safe, restful holiday and look forward to seeing you for an action packed Term 2. Finally, I look forward to seeing as many students as possible at the ANZAC Day March on the 25 th April. We will start to gather at 8:40am. School News On Harmony Day 2016 Curlewis School had a special visitor named Ivy. She grew up in Malaysia but her great grandparents came from China. She spoke Malaysian and Chinese (Mandarin) at home, and also learned English at School. She showed us how to use chopsticks and Chinese soup bowls. She also had childrens clothes from China for K12 to try on. She told us how to greet people in Mandarin. We learned lots of things about China and Malaysia and even though people in other countries eat different food, speak different languages and play different games it does not mean we can t all get along. We also enjoyed the dumplings she made! Thanks Ivy!
