Connecting, learning, transforming The University of Waikato is ranked in the top 3% of universities worldwide and is ranked 61st out of 100 most international universities in the world (Times Higher Education). Waikato Management School is among Australasia s leading university-based business schools, offering a comprehensive range of subject majors and qualifications designed to service a wide range of career objectives. We are based in an environment that s doubly dynamic: located in New Zealand, one of the world s most aggressive promoters of global trade and competitiveness; and also in the Waikato region, the heartland of New Zealand s leading agribusiness export industries. It also boasts the highest rate of newly established businesses in the country. Waikato Management School s network of strong connections with regional, national, and international businesses gives our students an ideal platform from which to forge connections and transform themselves into business leaders. We encourage students to absorb and refine this region s commitment to sustainable innovation and carry it out into the world. Waikato Management School is among an elite group of the world s best business schools that have earned Triple Crown status an international acknowledgement of excellence in business education. We are accredited by the world s oldest assessor of business education, AACSB International (the US-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System), and AMBA (The Association of MBAs). Only 1% of the world s business schools have met the strict standards of all three accreditation bodies. Professor Don Ross Dean, Waikato Management School Waikato Management School 3

PwC will endeavour to provide relevant introductions if you wish to work for PwC overseas or in New Zealand, and will consider approaching clients on your behalf if you wish to work with a PwC client in New Zealand. SHILPI SHARMA Senior business adviser, Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment It was while working as a project manager for one of the largest healthcare conglomerates in New Delhi, India, that Shilpi chose New Zealand and Waikato Management School as the place to further her education. Waikato Management School was an easy choice due to its Triple Crown accreditation. The age of the highly specialised manager, who could make decisions even without knowing anything outside their specific domain, is gone forever. I joined the MBM because it trains you to develop a broad understanding of all aspects of business and management. This programme prepares managers to develop a holistic view of business, thus making their decisions more effective. For me, the MBM has certainly opened many doors in the business world, which would otherwise have taken quite a while. It was very evident during my job search phase that the Waikato MBM had given me a clear edge over other candidates in the fray. Shilpi now works as a business adviser for the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment. The lecturers are truly world-class and very passionate about their teaching and having co-participants from a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds made for some very intriguing group sessions. I can confidently say my Waikato MBM experience has equipped me to become a future leader. Waikato Management School 5

VIOLET ZHANG Master of Professional Management Public Relations, 2014 Chinese-born Violet Zhang feels her MPM masters degree at Waikato has given her the confidence to seize the initiative and lead people. After a five-year career in the hotel industry, Violet was eager to study overseas in an English-speaking country like New Zealand. Having worked her way from front desk and food/beverage operations to a marketing communications role at the new Crowne Plaza Hotel in North Chengdu, she wanted to sharpen her skills in public relations even further. Violet says the 12-month Master of Professional Management degree at Waikato, with its combination of theory and practice, was ideal for her needs. At first she found her classes quite challenging, but the way that lecturers encouraged students to think critically and act practically has been fantastic for her personal growth, she says. Violet also gained hands-on experience of public relations with a three-month internship at CLIM Systems in Hamilton. Waikato Management School 7
